	They get so uptight about their builds and I always end up getting at least 1 neg rep which no one owns up to. If players that like Ranged weren't so damn sensitive I wouldn't go out of my way replying to every post.

	I have an argument of moderation, but I honestly don't know how to express it correctly in that thread. Part 1) A well built and well run AA is not nearly as gimpy as people would expect because a well built and well run AA can do some neat tricks that a plain old melee type cannot AND a well built and well run AA can still bust out the melee weapons and go to town in close combat with a reasonable DPS compared to his Tempest Cousin. Part 2) Part 1 is kind of irrelevant since ANYTHING that is well built and well geared will outperform 90% or more of the population on DDO, so it doesn't really matter who is "gimp" and who isn't based on build strength. An outstanding player can still rock an AA through Epic quests and a mediocre player can still break a hip while limping through StK on Normal with a 7th level WF Wizard. Good players know how to squeeze the most performance out of their characters even if that character isn't the theoretical top-DPS build. Bad players spill their DPS on the ground when they should be giving it to the Tamar mob that is currently killing their party members.

Norg's Boomsticks is a good example of a ranged spec'd ranger (are some others) and an all ranged shroud can be one of the quickest around. I remember some tempests in the past were dumb-founded when I assigned them duty to get the crystal... and then sent tell - you're a ranger why do you not have a bow? You've manyshot and bow strength for a reason. I've two tempest and an archer they all use melee weapons and bows... the issue with ranged characters in general is that many people do not know how to play them in group context nor how to utilize them for best results. I've seen archers kite part 2 tower many times early on - often some of the best for it. Stainer may atest my Ambyre (the archery poised one) I play little and I have played her little since even the sub come out so she's slightly under geared in some respecs (her gear no higher than GS)... Fact is though if I ever considered soloing epic DQ for instance I would� use this character (tweak her and gear her up) to do it instead of my FvS or WiZ. Like any character you have to know what it's weakness' are and what it may dish out in return.

I also know the Rules of Ranged 1. Don't aggro what you can't kill 2. Range the ranged, not the melee! 3. If you kite, you're on your own 4. See those big lumps of metal in the scabbards at your waist? Know when to pull them out: often. 5. Don't argue the merits of ranged in a party asking you not to, it just slows down the run and pisses people off. Just put the bow away and pull out the swords. 6. Manyshot is powerful. Very powerful. Anyone asking you not to use Many Shot either has a very good reason or is an idiot. This is the only exception to rule 5 - but if they DO have a good reason, then see rule 5. If you're a longbow user, but you're not of a level to craft a GS bow, for the love of god get the Silver Bow and get it as soon as you can, its not hard to get and its all round the best bow you can get till GS. But remember its not the ONLY bow, and its not ALWAYS the best. 8. Read anything by Talon. Then read it again. Have you memorised it yet? Read it again. 9. Ranged is gimped by most standards. Most standards are not the ONLY standards - but they are the ones you'll run into most. See rule 5.

	One of the reasons that you are going to see a lot of arguing is that archers have been defending their play style for years against people telling them that it is useless. Things have been changing a bit with the AA enhancements, but there are still a lot of hurt feelings out there. With an archer, you have both significant disadvantages and a few situational abilities that are overpowered compared to other game mechanics. It ends up being a game of learning to balance and exploit these at the appropriate moments and many people can't grasp that. There probably does need to be a fix there, but exactly what it needs to be is a tough call. Ranged attack rate or damage increase probably means IPS/MS nerf. That would probably turn into a shit storm. Personally, I would be happy if alacrity and similar bonuses just worked as advertised. For background, I've got an Arcane Archer with 3 ranger past life feats that has been a ranged character since Shot-on-the-run was needed to be able to kite. My other ranger has Improved Crit: Ranged because even a low dex Tempest II/Kensai can benefit from the occasional bow use because of the overpowered IPS/MS.

I do not know if all were even Lit II's. Norg on occasion has run all ranged shrouds on hard even - I do speculate he'll plan an elite for the heck of it eventually... I think such takes a lot of coordination on the party. I do know in all those I heard very little healing was needed - fact was one was done with a bow weilding chanter as the possible main healer if trouble occured.

I remember someone putting together an all ranger shroud when the cooldown bug was still going on. Forgot what the time was on taking down portals and harry but I'm pretty sure it was stupid fast. I know DQ2 was super fast with that bug and a couple rangers in party.

Gives you a good damage option that will be close to Lit II with the Silver Longbow and it's still decent vs neutral and better vs electric resist/immune mobs. The other works well for harder to hit mobs or shooting while avoiding Lailat.
