My Wizard doesn't have a Striding item because he just tosses off a quick Exp. Retreat whenever he goes into or out of a quest so that I can save the slot (I do have a ring to swap in for part III of Shroud and for the run to HoX). All of my other characters have a 30% striding ring as soon as they can get one.
I also have a spare Ring of Feathers, a couple of Feather Falling Rings and an Imelda Marcos closetfull of FF boots.
The only way that I've seen to combine both 30% striding and Feather Fall on one item is to get a set of Epic Dustless boots and drop FF into the yellow slot. I really dislike normal run speed when I'm not Hasted and I'm not quick enough to remember to swap in a FF item when I'm falling to want to skip either of those items.
What do you do for Striding and for FF on your fully geared characters? There just aren't enough slots on a single character to get all of the gear that a single character will want, so I'm looking for thoughts and suggestions.
Edit: I should mention that I'm not 100% unwilling to give up Striding and/or Feather Fall, but it would probably take several people saying that they get along fine without one or the other to get me to try going without one and attempting to swap it in when I end up needing it.

In town House P trinket.
In quest Madstone's on Melee's and 30% striders or nothing on casters.
I switch in Ff when needed usually mumified bat or cape of the roc.

I just got that impression after you spent 13 pages calling out eladiun for being an interwebs bully when anyone who's been posting on here already knew that. I mean, he's proud of it and hardly tries to hide that at all.

30% Striders + Mummified Bat on a couple.
30% Striders + casting Leap of Faith on my FvSs
Expeditious Retreat/Haste + FF boots on my Bards
30% Striders + FF spell on my Sorcs and Archmage
Wraith form + Haste/Surefooted Boots on my Palemaster
Swap between 30% Striders and FF boots for the rest if I don't have them geared out.

Prefer FF to be mummified bat, as it hotswaps well with many trinket items (bloodstone, head of good fortune). 'F' for featherfall, 'ctrl-F' for the default item.
Trinket for in town.
Haste for in quest.

I just read that the cat followed up by visiting the dog house later that night, dropping some Willie Pete in on the sleeping dog. #epochsfamiliarFTW

30 Strider boots and mummified bat or FF Ring in town. And Quest.
My monk doesn't worry about it though. I can currently jump off the bridge from the vale and make it to the airship tower w/ abundant step.

Roc cloak on some, bat on some, boots on some. Just depends on what is already in those slots on the character.
While I always have them on hand for areas where I have to steer past things while falling, usually I just freefall unless I'm on a character with no tumble, then I just try to swap as close to the ground as I can.
As far as damage...
Teleport error on rogue, no featherfall = 30pts damage
