Not sure how many of you read the General Forum this weekend but there was something of a very sad story there. Apperently a BF/GF were running in a raid in my home server Agro on Friday night when he started complaining of chest pains in voice chat as they are progressing in the raid.

He tries to tough it out, starts lagging behind the party and finally stops all together says something in voice like "It hurts"; then nothing further from him at all.

The GF tries calling him, no answer, then calls 911. Finds out six hours later he died of a heart attack while online with them.

A very sad story, I really feel bad for her and all their friends involved. I cannot even begin to imagine how terrifying it would be to be actually talking and interacting with somone and they just die.

Now to the ballsy part. I log into the forums today to check and see how the GF and friends are doing. Cannot find the post, so I look a few pages back still nothing. Check my posts to see if it got moved to somewhere else and realise my condolance post has been deleted along with the GFs topic.

That takes some serious balls on a Mods part. Someone reaches out for help and support from fellow gamers in their moment of pain, and the Devs just make it disapear like it never existed. Not locked, just gone.

I always knew the Devs were idiots for the most part, I never once suspected souless. I stand corrected Devs.

Chest pains are serious - instead of toughing it out as you said, should of called the his doctor or the hospital. 

Then again, I might just be this way because grandfather died of a heart related issue.

That being said, my condolences if it is not a hoax.

I hope it was a hoax tho, that would be sad otherwise.

If it is real, condolences and the devs suck.

Funny in an odd sort of way, but back in Oct 07 something very similar happened to me.

I had severe chest pains, and quit in the middle of a raid to go to the hospital.  I had what they call a "cardiac event" and it altered my ekg which now shows that I have left ventricular hypertrophy http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CCAQFjAA&url=http%3A%2... It scared a bunch of the old Loreseekers gang who were in the raid with me (for some reason I'm wanting to say it was a Titan...but don't really remember, could've been Tempest or VoN, but certainly not Reaver as that is too short and it was before my fascination with DQ).

It did result in one good thing.  I quit smoking my old Lucky Strike cigarettes cold turkey.  Working on year 4 now.

So, yes, CP can be something as ridiculous as gas to as critical as an MI, but in any case medical attention should be sought.  Yes, you'll feel like an ass if the CP was from that burrito you ate earlier, but you'll feel like you just scored a goal for a Mexican soccer team if you find something serious early enough to prevent something really unfortunate.

I do so hope that this is a hoax, but if not, my deepest condolences to those affected.

perhaps it was real and the girl asked the mods to take it down to lessen the sheer horror to herself and her friends.

The girl in question asked for the thread to be deleted. She asked this in several posts (of the type "How can I delete this thread?" etc), as she said she had gotten the information she was looking for.

So the mods just did what she wanted. But I suppose they would had deleted it anyway, due to possible legal issues as mentioned, and several breaches of the TOS in the thread (where people advised her to look through his stuff for his account information and the like).

I read this thread.

She was asking how to get his password for his account so she could finish his completionist task.  Supposedly.  It did sound fishy.

He had ran a BUNCH of RAIDS the day before.  Her (word filter)  said he died "recently."  She did NOT say yesterday.  This was the first part that I found suspicious.  Later on, when a poster pointed this out she came up with more story.

Now, if you just lost your significant other, why the heck would you be worried about the game?  I think I would try calling the parents and thinking about the funeral.  Not playing a game.  My perspective is completely different than hers.

Second, the player was in a guild with 34 people in it.  When this was pointed out, she said most of them were his alts.  Then another person in the guild posted.  So, there were several people that would help her complete his goal.  She did not NEED to ask on the forums.

The reasons the thread was eliminated is that it could lead to people learning how to hack an account and making it that easy to find the information would not be good.  Such as the AWFUL wall that gave out ALL of our account names to the spammers and hackers.  They did NOT get the passwords, just our account names.

What was this person asking for?  How to get the password.  Not good.

If this was an honest post, it was dealt with internally by Turbine after they looked into it.
