dont matter 1 bit to me anymore. Starwars, guildwars2 and D3 will cease my activity with turbine forever.

Please tell me that you're implying that being able to buy items with IRL money is at least part of the reason for this.  Pretty please.

All my builds are planned with +4 tomes.  So +2 is what I use typically.  +3 I just hoard in my giant vaults until they release +5 tomes and my builds start building for those.  I don't like odd numbers, they don't give bonuses so my mind shuns the thought of them.

This.

nah... I did like ddo before f2p(except the vast/mysterious time)  Lips Sealed
but to keep the thread sorta on topic. starwars is starting out the gate with a form of pay2win. preorders will receive a combat droid 'pet' and D3 will, as we all should know by now, an AH powered by the USD.
I think pay 2 win is here to stay. just dont care anymore.

It's certainly no skin off my nose.  There are tons of shit you can't get without grinding for it, and good gear doesn't make a good toon.  If someone can get a leg up on some of the grind because they have money instead of no life, more power to them.

I don't have a problem with it either really.  I guess my reason for the necro was to see if there were any people who hated pay2win with a passion when it was Turbine selling it, but for some reason thought it was kosher if bought from other players.

Little nit pick tho.  Gear does have a big part in what makes a good or bad toon (at least IMO).  Good players on the other hand can play gimp toons better than some people play geared/well designed ones.

I've always made sure my toons are fairly well geared to compensate for not being an ubarz player.

That's a fair picking of nits, frankly.  What I meant was to express the common opinion that a well-geared toon can't make up for a shit player, but good gear is definitely an integral part of a good toon.  Tongue

agree to a point. but if you take into account an average player vs good player, this isnt true.
ie. an avg player on a caster with 45 DC's and unlimited pots will be better then a good player on a horc wiz with 32 dc's. this can be applied to any class.

ofc this is extreme example, but gear and build is generally more important in ddo then skill, unless you really do suck Wink

It's probably fair to say tho that the better players won't be playing casters with 32 DC at cap (Even one with basic gear can do a lot better).  I think the case in point was the teths of this world can build a lvl 20 character with minimal gear (You can take for granted that the build will be solid) and still outperform most other people, even those with plenty of gear.

Fatherkline on the other hand could have a completionist build with all the gear and pots he can fit in his inventory and would still be declined by a lot of groups.

All that siad, the game isn't full of Teths and Fatherklines.  Most of us are somwhere in between.

I do have a somewhat different feeling between those two because of the limit that exists on player sold gear that doesn't exist on Turbine sold gear.  If Turbine sells raid loot/scrolls/whatever in the store, you can buy an unlimited amount with it if you have enough money.  If players sell raid loot/scrolls/whatever in the store, you can still only buy a limited amount even if you have unlimited funds because players only pull so many of those items in any day/week/whatever.

Also, BtA/BtC mechanics further limit the number of those items that a player can acquire because you have to be in the raid when that chest is opened in order to get the item, no matter how much you're willing to pay for it.  BtA/BtC items that Turbine might decide to sell can be bought anywhere and at any level.

Those are really just relatively small differences, though.  I find both distasteful.
