I look at it this way... Quite a few characters I'd never TR'd because many of them 'ave a complete +3 tome layer.

When you look at the forums the bleedin' subject of TR retaining tomes keeps popping up.

I see arguements on both sides - I always been against it even though it kept me from rebuilding characters near all the time.

For me... the end game be fun, is nothin in the begining nor middle of any note... that includes shroud, and the sub btw.

When I read this first thought on mind be... aimed to TR those complaining bout lost tomes.

I'm going to be honest. I will buy a +3 wisdom tome for my caster cleric, because it will even her up and there's only so much I want to heal PUGgles. I'm working to 40 Shroud completions this life because I want to rejig my greensteel and that's making me irked enough, so it's worth it purely for my blood pressure. I may buy an Int tome for my wizzie to tuck away or a Strength tome for my ranger I won't ever TR since that will also even her up but it's entirely dependent on how much they are.

Having said that, I'm really taking that approach because I bought a pile of TPs when on sale thinking I'd need more for my completionist than I am (I run a lot more epics now than I ever thought I would). So I have the points sitting there. The approach does make me wary of spending large amounts more on the game than my subscription, it does smack of milking the last of the cash cow somewhat, and it makes me concerned for the game's future bottom line. Smacks a little of desperation to me. I'm concerned they are under pressure from WB to make more cash in the main, despite its many flaws I enjoy this game tremendously, even if the bugginess of the most recent update is horrid.

Ignoring what you know is coming in the future in order to be a spastic aspie and scream about non-raid loot being raid loot so you can take a 'principled stand' just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.  But whatever keeps you entertained, I suppose.

Which they're not doing, because they're not selling raid loot.  They're selling loot which already drops from another mechanic other than raids, and which will drop much more often in the near future from even more places.

I have to agree with Wiz on this one.

A post stating "We are reviewing our loot mechanics" and "We’re currently exploring ways to introduce more chances for +3 tomes to appear in the game beyond raiding" is indeed a far cry from say "+3 Tomes now have a chance to drop in Lv18+/Epic content".

That reviewing +3 tome loot mechanics is on Turbines "to-do sometime" list is not inspiring to me personally.

Until they actually make a change to the +3 tome loot mechanics; Turbine selling +3 tomes in the DDO store is A) Breaking their promise to their players never to sell raid loot ingame and B) Selling power/Pay to Win.

These are not good things.

Non-specific?  You're the only one claiming that's somehow a mitigating factor.  I don't get it at all.  I don't see how it makes the slightest difference here.  If a Torc were a very rare drop from a bunch of Raids, instead of a rare drop from one, I don't see how that would make putting it in the store any more acceptable.

From festivals?  Simply laughable.  Even if that absurd technicality makes it justifiable as not being Raid loot, they're selling items worth tens of millions of plat.  I think that still counts as something to be concerned about.
