No thanks.  Being human doesn't grant any advantage over drow.  In fact, it is a disadvantage.  Why you may ask? Because you have to spend 2 ap to make that +4 tome equal to what a drow gets naturally.  Which is retarded.  Thanks for playing!

I don't mind spending 2 AP to get 20 HP and a free feat.

If you need more feats on a wizard, or more HP on a palemaster, you are doing it wrong.  That free feat, toughness?, and 2 ap to become equivalent to a drow - if you have a +4 int tome - and 20 hp from the 2 extra con isn't even worth the SR a drow gets.  Palemasters do not have HP problems.  So meh to your HP.

You need Toughness for Lich form, so I'd hope that isn't your "spare" feat.  Perhaps it'd be the difference between Insightful Reflexes or not?

Seeing as you can grab both on a non human, whatever your point is, it is invalid.

Did you know you can grab toughness more then once? Mind boggling isn't?

Toughness
Insightful Reflexes
active Past Life: Wizard
Spell Focus: Something (Necro for a PM)
Greater Spell Focus: Something
Spell Penetration
Greater Spell Penetration
Heighten
Maximise
Quicken
Extend (I really like Extend on a Pale Master)
Spell Focus: Something Else (probably Conjuration at this point)
Greater Spell Focus: Something Else

That's 13 feats which I'd like to take, not even counting a possible Mental Toughness that might be necessary to add Archmage enhancements to the Pale Master line (depending on how the enhancement rework turns out this summer).  I could drop some of those feats, but is there any feat on that list that you wouldn't be willing to spend 2 AP for?

May I ask why you are wasting feats on spell pen? You tr'ed once, may as well do it two more times.  Then just grab one spell pen feat and you have more spell pen then you know what to do with.

I would also trade out the 2nd greater spell focus for empower.

Wizards are OP.  Human has no real benefit over drow.  They are comparable with a +4 int tome - but without it they are inferior.  I would rather increase my damage by a few percent then grab a feat that will have no true effect.

I was mainly referring to the part where you called less SR than a spell gives a good feature.

Oh, I was using that as a reference point.

I never said it was good, I just said it was better.  Something that has no benefit is better then that alternative.

I'm going to hit my second TR (third life total) on my Wizard next week (once the first few brave souls TR on Monday and demonstrate whether or not reincarnation got fucked up in the update).  As long as the second TR isn't too onerous, I might pick even up a Cleric life or two.

...and I'll still take at least the first Spell Penetration feat.

Enemies with spell resistance are going to be more common in the upcoming updates and their SR is going to be higher than the spell resistance enemies that we face today (just because they'll be higher level).  I'm not going to go with a high elf for their Spell Penetration enhancements, but if I have to choose between +1 DC from hitting an even number Int on Drow or getting +2 Spell Penetration on a Human, I'd probably pick Human.  Add in the fact that a Human will often have the same Int modifier as a Drow and that's even more reason for me to like Humans.

I actually made my Pale Master as a Warforged because I wanted the versatility more than I wanted the raw power.  In most quests, I run around in lich form, but there are a reasonable number of quests and raids where I'd much rather be a toaster than a lich.  I get the best of both worlds.  Like Miley Cyrus.

Also, I'm not sure how I left out Empower.  I do consider that one of the "must have" feats.

You might substitute in shield proficiency/mastery here if you want to be truly immortal.

It's the multiple past lives that allow you the room to not have to take more feats than you have room for.

Wiz/Fvs - Spell Pen
Sorc - Evocation DC
Cleric - Conjuration DC
Bard - Enchantment DC but still costs a feat.

Depending on your gear setup, what tomes you have available, and specialty you can save burning feats with passive past life feats.
