12 bard/6 artificer/2 rogue

Drow evasion warchanter/engineer

STR 12
DEX 16
CON 14
INT  16
WIS 8
CHA 12

Is this at all workable, or will it be totally gimp end game?

Theory behind the build? I.e. why do you want to make this?

Because Opus Dei style self-mutilation is not an option at character creation.

Well, the idea was that we don't have many bards in my guild, and I hate playing gimp melee, so I thought that gimp ranged might not be so bad.

And Maxwell, since you have all the answers, how would you roll a bard?

Well, first...wait, I can't it is just too easy.

It isn't a question of how to roll a bard, it is what you want the bard to do.  The one above really wouldn't fly all that well at cap for epic.

I wouldn't.  I am horrible at playing bards.  That aside though, the build is missing some synergies.  It's tight on feats, tight on skill points.

14/6 would be no worse a bard than a typical bardbarian I guess.

Oh come on, I gave you the perfect setup and you chicken out? Not even a, "I would steal his clarinet, break his glasses, and stick chewed-up gum into his braces"?

Of course not; everyone knows that you want spellsingers in epic.

I play a melee bard. It's far from gimp while leveling. Plays like a high strength fighter with buffs. Not much you can't do with self haste/displace/rage and songs with a lit2 falchion, even on my elite streak.

People seem to forget how easy it is to play  a melee while leveling....

Wat?  You mean to tell us that you can solo without AoE spells in our arsenal?  What kind of crazyperson are you?

Sure you can, but aoe spells and persistent aoe spell effects make it so much more exciting.
