Second Life AA

Ok... it's finally time to TR my first toon Fiergen who is a Drow pure Ranger played as an AA. Here's what I'm thinking of going with:

HElf
12 monk/6 ranger/ 2 fighter (possibly arti instead)

Stats:
STR 14
DEX 16
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 16
CHA 8

Progression:
Ranger Levels-    1,4-8
Monk Levels-       2, 3, 10, 1-20
Fighter Levels-     9, 11

Feats by level:
1- WF:Ranged
    HElf: Rogue
    Favored Enemy: Undead
2- Toughness
3- Dodge
    Zen Archery
6- Point Blank Shot
7- Favored Enemy- Construct (swap to Evil Outsider at 16)
9- Precise Shot
    IC: Ranged
10- Monk Path (Dark)
11- Improved Precise Shot
12- GTWF
14- Power Attack
15- Cleave
18- Stunning Fist

This build allows me to take Ninja Spy 2 and all the AA enhancements. Being Helf allows me the Rogue Dilletante for extra sneak attack damage. I am currently torn whether to take the 2 fighter levels to get the extra feat or if I should take the 2 artie levels and try to get UMD high enough for heal scrolls. I plan to use wraps for melee and between manyshot and 10k stars maximize my ranged DPS. Fiergen did pull a +3 dex tome which will put me at the 19 dex I need for Improved Precise Shot.

What would you change about this build? Do you think I'm better off with cleave/PA or should I take the arti levels?

Prob better to go with a different dil, as you'll get SA dice from NS2.  Unless it happens to stack with the SA dice from NS2, at which point I'll need to reevaluate some things.

Ninja spy sneak dice stack with rogue sneak dice.  Rogue Dilettante sneak dice are treated as rogue sneak dice.

I'd keep FE construct for LoB and MA and swap undead for EO (or whatever FR brings).

You'll need Mental Toughness by level 8 to take the Elven AA PrE as it stands now, don't know about after the enhancement changes.  You'll be able to take it at level 6+ after your fourth ranger level. take point blank shot at 3 and dodge in a different monk feat slot if possible (don't need it til 13 here).

I don't think you can take Improved Precise Shot at 11 with that class split because your BAB (10) won't be high enough (11) yet, so you might need to swap it with power attack.

Hmmm... I had heard they changed this already and that the ranger enhancement "energy of the wild" or whatever would cover this.

That could be true. The char gen program I'm using is really broken to what I see in-game. Probably an old version. You happen to know if a newer version is more up-to-date?

Either way the feats would stay the same I would just take them in a different order.

The only change I'm aware of for the pre-requisite of AA is the addition of Artificer Energy of Creation.

I thought Ron's did a pretty good job with pre-reqs, if you're not using that then I can't really comment.  If you are, check your BAB and the requirements listed for the feats in the planner.  If they do not agree to what's in game he would probably want to know so he can fix it.

I think you're right. Just did a vet 7 for an elven AA and I can't recall seeing energy of the wild there, but I wasn't looking for it.

I personally like this one better. The enhancement choosing system could use some work, and the attempt to include item bonuses is mostly a complete failure, but besides that I've found it much faster to use (make sure to check "speed level" at level one to avoid the enhancement choices until level 20). Also, all builds are saved to the site, so it makes reviewing it/sharing it easier.

I've been thinking abot making a ranged character as well, but I thought I'd go with 11rgr/9mnk so that I could more effectively dump dex (free IPS/GTWF) and still shake things up with the occasional ToD melee.

http://www.ddochargen.com/home.aspx?build=16216 if you want to check it out. I figure I'll get to cap and start farming AC gear, and TR once I've got enough. The extra build points from the second life will give me enough int to qualify for CE, so I'll probably just take stunning fist first life instead while I wait.

I have basically the same build, just elf instead of helf; I would focus more ranged, as I only melee to feed ki for 10k stars. At the same time, the haste boost from fighter levels is nice, and you can always use more feats.
