Who the fuck said I wanted to play a rogue?
MMO's have the SHITTIEST stealth mechanics for rogues.

The only time I've ever played one for more than a few hours was Thief 2: The Metal Age. That was also the only time I enjoyed a sneaky stealthing-type character role.

I don't even go NEAR the rogue class button in DDO unless I'm splashing 2 or 3 levels into a wizard so I can be completely self-sufficient in single party quests and avoid being forced to listen to self-important, mouth-breathing windbags like you over voice chat.  Grin

DDO has crazy awesome stealth mechanics.

Google the videos by Ghoste and you'll be blown away.


Also, the text near the d20 does say "crit" so that is probably why people are confused and think skills can auto-fail/succeed.

People are confused because they are too damn stupid to actually test stuff.

The funny part is that those are the same people that will say, "I succeeded on a 1, I am awesome!"  Then when they fail they say, "I rolled a 1 so it autofailed." Can't have it both ways, just saying.  The other thing is, you need a 40 umd for heal scrolls, yet people say to build to 39.  I wonder why that could be? Obviously it isn't because 39+1=40. 

Math is hard, just like DDO.

I guess I figured since I've crit-failed EVERY time I rolled a 1 on a disable check even with the skill maxxed out on every level up and the best available +Disable gear for any given level, even on below-level quests, that it was an auto-failure in 3.5 like saving throws are.

At level 13 on my arti's first life I'm sitting on a 37 disable (16 base, 10 ability mod, 10 item, 1 misc from somewhere else I don't feel like tracking down) and the panels STILL explode on 1's.

What else should I be improving here?


I kept forgetting to upload a couple of screenshots when this discussion was still going on.  Note that both of those are on an int based arti, and I'm wearing my open locks ring in both of them instead of my device disable ring.

Also note that in the first screenshot, I'm watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!

If you think Rogues are about stealth, you are wrong. Stealth is a nice extra you can use (mostly while soloing). Other than that, it's for being used for whole 0.5 seconds every 15 seconds.
