So I *finally* reached 2500 favor & unlocked FvS on my main this life, and the class had always interested me...bought a character slot and rolled one, just for giggles & to get the feel for it (have never played a truly healing capable toon before, and fairly gimp at casters in general). Got him up to lvl 8 last night (which has been painful- fun, but painful), going pure Evoker, crafting a little bit of twink here & there, but no major investment as yet.
Then it happens....I'm running through the harbor today, and see a big crowd, so I check it out. Given the other posts on here on the subject, you can probably guess the rest...
Tl;Dr Version- I now have a completely ungeared & inexperienced lvl 16 Human Evoker
Any gear and/or playing advice would be greatly appreciated.....
Elegorne,Wizegorne,Healegorne and some other gimp toons on Thelanis

Firstly, don't expect much of the "Evoker" side of your firstlifer. You have the potential to be a good healer but not a good evoker.
I'd concentrate on learning how to heal well and only care about CC and killing stuff when you get some gear and experience.
Your primary goal is not to die, only then you can heal people reliably. Therefore you should aim for as much hp as you can (at least 500). HP>SP. Don't think you can have low HP just because you are not in the front line.
Carry at least 200 heal scrolls at all times and use them if you are not sure if you SP will last thru the quest. Use them right from the beginning and keep a SP reserve for emergencies. If you are poor, ask party members for money for heal scrolls - they'll be happy to help you out.
You wil be expected to have Mass Death Ward, Circle of prot. AE, Freedom of Movement and True Seeing loaded.
Cheap/easy gear setup at lvl 20:
Goggles: Greensteel - Opposition
Head: Minos
Armor: T3 Cavalry Plate (not many useful choices here ATM)
Bracers of the Glacier
Gloves: Greensteel 45HP
Boots of Propulsion
Belt: Amarath 6 con, greater false life
Cloak: Charisma, Envenomed if you can get it (Avoid Cloak of Night)
Trinket: Ion Stone or Litany - nothing cheap comes to mind
Necklace: Silver Flame for Deathblock, Torc if you can get it
Rings: Whatever you're missing
However, the expansion is gonna change the gear a lot so this might soon be completely irrelevant.
Good Luck.
