Deathward for mobs in Epics

Epic monsters on hard and elite are now resistant against death if their CR is above 20. This ward is called “hard to kill” and acts as a death ward until the targets hps drops below 50% which removes the ward. The ward doesn’t restore after the monster heals.

This is less than ideal.

And a WF Necro/Conj AM.

What's wrong with Epic mobs not being able to be insta-killed immediately? Didn't we have that for YEARS prior? And it was "No insta-death period"?

DDO is hard you guys.

I would rather have saves that reduce with HP for mobs and players. But that would make to much sense so fuck that lets bring back the blanket immunities!

I'm sure the melee's are going to love the arcane waiting until the mob they've been beating on for 20 mins to reach 50% health and fingering it because we'd rather not have this epic take a day and a half to finish.

Whats wrong is the half ass way they are doing it.
Either give them deathward or don't.
They used to have it, then they took it away, and now they are sorta bringing it back.

I think we're just going to have the DC casters soloing on normal and everyone else running epics like we used to on hard/elite

That was when mass hold made mobs helpless and they took much more damage. In the old days it was "mass hold/beatdown with heavy picks". The it was "wail/circle/FoD/PK and cycle through". Now what is it going to be? Mass hold and wait for the mobs to be below 50% then wail/circle? Seriously.

For the PM, I'm guessing that using AOE damage to get the mob hp down would be ideal.  Just about everything is immune or highly resistant to fire.  So look to things like Chain Lightning/Horrid Wilting/Otiluke's Freezing Sphere/etc.

The deathward is curious to me though.  Why boost the negative damage for things like the sla's and necrotic ray if they won't affect the mobs?  That's interesting...

Potientally Adding Evocation Focus.  Then Mass Hold/Chain Lightning or Otiluke's/ Wail or Circle.

Well now that I'll have to carry around all these spell damage items, I wish I had made my PM with a bit more str.

Goddamn I hate inventory tetris.

Meh, they still have their massive SA... and they can still assassinate when I have my mob down to 1%, when, apparently, it is the most fun.  Hate you Urs. Tongue

With the U14 spell power changes, you have to carry around spell damage clickies anyway. Deathward doesn't change that much.

I know that. Just a general statement about spell power changes affecting all kinds of shit, on top of this DW bullshit.

Hey aren't you quitting? Can I have an envenomed cloak scroll? Tongue

The problem is, it is being called deathward.  In most cases it more of a deathblock.  Necro dmg still hits it, you just can't instakill it.

Meh, just TR to a sorc, use SLAs and various efficient meta clicky'd spells to bring mobs down to 50%, wail, rinse repeat. I personally started playing an arcane after U9 cause before that it looked just stupidly boring, being an enabler isn't fun, but what have you! Cheesy

And no it's not gonna be like pre-u9, pre-u9 mobs would get perma-held with any decent DC and just beaten down with heavy picks/woowoo sticks. Altho I guess mass hold + nuking would work now, but that just leaves melee useless once again (since by the time an average gimp melee beats down a mob isaves on the hold and assrapes the melee) Grin

You can't really have a melee vs. caster 'balance' in a game based on d&d, what you can have tho is a bastardized hodgepodge that Turbine's trying to make, wonder how it all works out  Smiley

I forsee a lot of wiz/sorc duos.

Honestly, why the fuck cant they just give enemy divines the ability to cast deathward (which can be interupted and dispelled).

Also, penis.
