Sorc questions

I've been thinking that I should avail myself of the free XP stone and greater tome of learning and roll up a sorc on Khyber. Figured it would be good for a laugh, given how many of you degenerates call it home. Also thought it would be amusing to see what it's like to be flat fucking broke again, and not have twink gear banked out the wazoo.

Couple questions, since I haven't played a sorc before:

1. How gimp would it be to splash 2 Pally? With the sorc capstone only being 20 spellpower now, doesn't seem all that good. My only concern would be losing 2 level 9 spells and 2 spell levels (besides Polar Ray, how many DPS spells actually have a high max level?). I'm a saves whore, though, so I like the idea of having the buffer of high saves on an ungeared first life toon.

2. I assume I should just say fuck spell pen, but is it worthwhile to max out evocation DCs (i.e. spell focus for Savant but also Greater Spell Focus and Epic Spell Focus)?

3. How is sorc DPS right now? Is Draconic Incarnation good?

2 spell levels matters for spell penetration, not for extra polar ray d6s.

How much does spell pen really matter for a first life sorc? I kinda assumed that I would just blow shit up in EN and EH and see a whole bunch of blue shields in EE either way.

You have assumed correctly.

Also, if you go acid savant, pick up fireball and/or DBF.

Yeah, I was thinking either earth or water savant. Probably do water while running devil content/until I get green steel. Was leaning towards earth for the new epic stuff since electric damage doesn't seem hot anymore.

I still like air, but I haven't done all that much in the xpack. Is it really that bad in there?

In the prequest for eveningstar, I remember the dretches being immune to electricity, but the other one (the one that comes up when lolth consumes the spinner) wasn't.

I'm lazy, so WF with quickened recon.

I'd love to do air, since I'm addicted to Leap of Faith/Abundant Step. But there are a fair number of Reavers in the Demonweb stuff, as well as other demons. I haven't paid close attention on my melees, but I assume they're electric-immune? I know the Hezrous are, for sure.

I'm pretty sure reaver's aren't. The ones in HoX/DD aren't, iirc.

Those are special Xoriat/Quori reavers, they have different immunities and DR (byeshk instead of cold iron, etc). Regular demon-type demons are electric immune.

The spell lists for air and ice can be very nearly identical, though; you can swap between them pretty much just by switching enhancements and swapping 1-2 spells. You won't need Blood of Dragons the way you do going fire -> ice. That makes it easy to try both and see which one you can live with. Then again, it's easy to pick up some Blood in Tor, so you can try out earth too.

Not worried about the switching. I love having wind dance and knockdown immunity.

My savant experiences so far, fwiw

1st - non-main character with average gear, went air. Does some FR stuff since it came out. Love the benefits, especially wind dance. Find very little that not effective against and has fairly strong fire and ice for back up. Love air savant.

2nd - main's 5th life with excellent gear. Went full acid savant the whole life. Acid is very nearly over-powered since they removed/reduced a lot of enemies' acid immunity/resistance. Only trouble was not having a backup spell the first time I met Thraraashk(sp?) hounds.  Loved acid savant, but missed wind dance.

3rd - main's 6th life. Going fire from 6-12, acid 12-18, air 18+. Currently level 10. Fire is ridiculously overpowered at 6-12. I don't want the fire guard though, and do want the acid HPs, so I'll be swapping at 12 to acid. Love it.

Tl:dr - any savant is amazing, if you take the time to adjust. Acid is the hardest for me as I'm not the biggest fan of acid rain - too used to AoE that lasts longer.

Very few things are elec immune, I only break out Min II's for a couple end bosses.  I don't even worry about elec immune trash it's just stunned and killed so quickly.
