Re-gearing my monk. Gear suggestions welcome.

Hi. I've finally decided to re-gear my monk. He does ok, but there are much better items out there for monks now so I've decided to re-gear him. I'd love some suggestions. Currently he is a halfling dark monk, focused on wisdom in water stance and str secondarily. He will be TRing sometime soon into either a human or a helf.  I will remain wisdom based.

This is what my plan is, and where my gear holes are.

Helm - OPEN (45 hp Min 2 available)
Neck - Wisdom +8 Natural Armor +6 (randomly found that for +8 wisdom)
Trinket - Insightful Wisdom 3
Cloak - OPEN (45hp Min 2 available)
Belt - Epic Spare Hand
R Ring - Epic Ring of the Stalker (open to change)
Gloves - PDK Gloves
Boots - Madstone currently (open to change, but i love the change to madstone allowing me to use clickies)
L Ring - Dun'Robar +2 str/10stunning
Bracers - OPEN (currently jidz)
Armor - Cormyrian Red Scale Robe
Goggles - OPEN

handwraps I'll likely use EE Ivy Wraps, because they're awesome. Hunting down some Alhemical for +2 wisdom when I need to do EiN. Might get some antipodes

Keep an eye out on the Mabar cloak - I like the lvl 20 one, and they said they will be upgraded for the new festival.

Cloak I was thinking eveningstar challenge cloak. Both of them look good. But the grind makes me want to punch an infant.

I'm working on regearing my main, current thoughts are:

Head: LGA 10% Alacrity, various other effects.  (deathblock, seeker 8, couple other good ones)
Neck: Oremi
Trinket: Gem of Many Facets, +3 insight WIS
Cloak - Smoke HP, Challenge cloaks
Belt - Epic Spare Hand
Ring (swap) Epic Stalker, Dun Robar (+2 con, stunning 10) - dun robar ring used on elites for stuns
Gloves - Epic Claw (I'm not cool enough to use purple gloves)
Boots - open for swaps, Epic Golden Greaves by default but they are kinda antiquated
Ring (perm) Oremi (holy burst)
Bracer: Epic Jidz, Scorched /w +2 luck
Armour: +8 wis spider outfit, old school red armour cause i'm gimp, 10/20/stoneskin amp DT, frozen tunic
Goggle: Tharne's, Raven sight

Goal is to more to be super survivable but with passable DPS.

I hit 300 amp with the spider outfit, 400 with the DT.  Many of my choices are amp related.

Build will likely change to a monk/ranger/fighter or paladin in a human or (shudder) helf form.
(last build turned out similar to that droken guy, though he gave it a fancy name and therefore I'm not allowed to take credit for mine regardless of building it on my own.)

I'm also open to suggestions, though I will likely openly mock anyone who dares naysay me while quietly implementing their tips.

If I were rest:

I know amp is good and all, but if it's not a huge concern you might look at the fabricator set.

Goggles I still think tharnes has a place but maybe you can cannith craft something decent.

Probably stick the min II on the head and grind out challenge cloaks.

Turns out I had a +3 str trinket of prowess in my bank i forgot about, so i'll likely wear that. I currently have epic time sensing for goggles, probably just slot +1 wisdom and leave em as is. maybe put GFL there too if i ditch the jidz.

Got some Antipodes, and they're pretty meh. Still lacking that final commendation I need for my red scale robe. LoB has not gone well for me, and I'm starting to think that maybe that +1 more DC isn't worth it.

Nah that was an old build on a different guy. Viiktor is a pure dark monk.

Ah OK, I do like that split though.

I'm looking at 12/6/2 with fighter or paly splash.  Helf or Human,
with the intention of going back to tanking after those races can
choose any PrE.

Fighter would probably be better, but that will depend on how high
I can get saves.  It would also be easier to create the crazy hybrid
that I'm working on to switch between monky evasion and heavy
S+B tanking.  The enhancement pass will hopefully allow for my
broken idea to happen.

A Defender AA would probably be the route I would go if possible,
with the AA being a bonus if able to fit it into the build.

Basically I want to go back to the awesomeness that was my
droken-esque build that could tank/solo whatever and still
had passable DPS.

I remember half soloing TOD more than once.

The devs should let me implement "Candyland" as a difficulty setting.

That's such a positive way of saying you've failed solo tods

I've not successfully  solod tod on a monk since i could 1 shot the bosses.

I was going to try before the AC changes but ran out of time, only ended up doing a VoD.

I'm pretty sure that with enough of the little trinkets I would have been OK, the only time I really needed assistance on Horoth was when stunned.

there's a point, i've not solod a vod since motu.

i'm genuinely curious to see if it'll be easier or harder now.

Harder at first, though with the full gamut of ED and the new PRR items I'm thinking a little easier on normal/hard.  Don't know about elite.

This is based on my initial experiences tanking ToD after the changes.

Racial defenders will change things up again and monks will return to being the best tanks for most raids.

Presuming anyone raids, of course.

Just finished hard.

destiny exalted angel

twists
sense weakness
tunnel vision
energy sheath

Healed through the whole thing with renewal

No pots were consumed, not even hastes.

Hardest part was bats (as i expected), they were hitting me for about 80 a pop, I was forced to abundant step around whilst topping up from ~100hp 3 times during that last bit.

Yeah I was on Munk.

88ac/15ppr/12 dodge, and shadowfade.

judgement made short work of the devils when they spawned, also made the second orthon round rather easy.

I would have killed for some Aoe during the bat phase, my  silver air/air/air were just proving the bats had evasion, sadly my byeshk water/water/earth wraps are still in my TR cache.

I'm fairly sure the bats would have killed me on elite, even if i resorted to silver flame pots.

prolly give it a go once the bonus xp wears off.

You really want one ToD ring for Holy Burst.  It's a huge amount of damage you're giving up.  I'd replace the Dun'Robar ring.  When you're dealing with trashmobs, Grave Wrappings are your friend.

Personally I favor the House of Avithoul ring over the Ring of the Stalker.  +5 Sneak Attack Bonus, +3 Exceptional Sneak Attack Bonus, Deception and +2 Insightful WIS.

The ring swap would allow you to put +8 WIS in the trinket slot, freeing up your neck for Shintao/Oremi set.  If you twist Haste Boost from Legendary Dreadnought (especially when you TR to Human/Helf), then Alchemist's Pendant is solid for the 20 HP, +1 Ki and +1 Boost.

Agreed, avithoul ring is just freaking awesome. It's just really annoying when someone in the group starts yelling over mic "Hey, look, I grabbed aggro from you!" but OP will understand when he gets one Wink
Holy burst on a ring is a must.
And yes, Alchemist pendant is really great for monks and monk splashes.

So I'd go for claw set, shintao (holy burst), avithoul (+2 wis), old red scale (for lower threat range=hw and if you already have 6 seeker somewhere else and fortif on claw bracers, I'm pretty sure it'd be more damage AND you get 2 slots which are pretty nice for monks).

Oh finally, for trashmob & general purpose HW, alchem tier3 > grave wrappings from my experience.

I'd prefer the VON Red Dragonscale Robe too, but I'm guessing the OP made the Cormyrian one because he didn't have the shard for it.

Shintao is a no brainer as long as you're generating enough Ki for heroic and ED strikes.  I prefer wind stance for the doublestrike and max alacrity (I dislike gear swapping for clickies) and it doesn't impact WIS DCs.

Seeker 6 vs. Seeker 10 on a 19-20/x2 profile isn't a big deal IMO.  I'd probably go Drow Smoke Goggles for the Manslayer (assuming that proc finally got fixed).

I'm a fan of the Claw set. Between monk and human heal amp enhancements and 30% from gloves, a Silver Flame potion heals enough.  Then again I'm more inclined to play a self-sufficient version like 9 monk/11 rogue (UMD Heal) or 2 Monk/18 FvS.

Sure, if you have them then use 'em.  Grave Wrappings are easily obtainable by anyone.  At least on Orien no one runs LOB anymore.
