New Talent at Turbine

In case you missed GoldyGopher's thread on the forums, Turbine's hired some new talent.  The big name is Ken Rolston of Elder Scrolls fame.

http://www.gamefront.com/turbine-hires-ken-rolston-key-talent-from-netherrealm-p...

Quote:
Turbine announced today some key additions to its leadership team, including Ken Rolston of The Elder Scrolls fame. Joining Turbine as Director of Design, Rolston is one of the most accomplished fantasy RPG game designers of all time.

Alan Villani joins Turbine as Vice President of Technology, coming NetherRealm Studios, where he was responsible for driving the technology platform that supported Mortal Kombat. Jai Singh joins Turbine as Executive Director of Technical Operations, coming from a background with Zynga managing the technology infrastructure for some of the largest social games in the world. Demetrius Comes joins as Executive Director of Engineering, coming from Petroglyph Games and bringing almost 20 years of technology experience.

Rolston looks to be a solid hire.
I don't understand the applicability of the Villani hire.
Singh might be an improvement, but don't know what he would bring to the table.
Demetrius might help them get their code revisioning into shape.

I optimistically speculate Villani is tasked with scaling and re-fitting the infrastructure and subsystems to properly handle planned changes to the engine and the like.  That's their hardware/datacenter guy, I believe.

I don't recall Rolston creating "escort/guard a dipshit" content before. Hope he manages to fit in the culture.

Look, you've gotta understand what it's like smrti, you come from the streets and suddenly you're up here, and these players are throwing their cash at ya, and they smell so good, and they really take care of themselves...  I mean I never knew people could be like that, you know? And they're so dumb, they're so goddamn dumb, you think they must not know about anything. And they're slipping their turbine points in my hands, two and three times day, buying different items. So here I think I'm scoring big and for a while you think, hey, they wouldn't be doing this if they didn't think I was making a good game, right?
