Biggest reasons would be #3 and 4.



What do I lose? 46 hitpoints. (2 toughness feats).   Worth it imo.

Divine sacrifice suppresses your off-hand attack,
ditto for the enhancement smites.

I found I didn't need the extra hate back in the day
when this build was useful.  The extra feats from the
6 fighter were much better and stalwart is cheaper
to buy than the pally defender.

Hitting lialat and lob intim thresholds will be difficult
at best, although the good news is those bosses
will chew up this build pretty quick.

Honestly though until a racial defender line happens
the various monk tanks are relegated to DPS for EE
due to low PRR.

More like improved sunder and weapon specialization,
though paladin makes up for the latter with divine favor
and divine might which you did not mention.

You might also consider helf for more dips or better
shortman contribution as you have an extra feat.


I tried both splits and tanked damn near everything
before u14 (though not epic lob just normal/hard) and
have a pretty good feel for the platform.

Mine is a ranger/fighter split now and can still "tank"
EH though he occasionally needs a healer for certain
bosses.  The ranger gives lot of feats, not to mention
the occasional pew pew when the situation calls for it.

Fighter will give you a pinch of hate, but the meat of
the aggro holding can be done via earth and gear.
(claw+circle of hatred is usually enough for me)

That's less/same damage mitigation than I have on Meathelmet and the EE LOB tore me a new asshole.

it'll be ubber for anything "easy" like EE Chrono or Elite TOD, you're evasion and saves will be nice for keeping Lolth pegged on you in EE CITW, but for something really tough like EE LOB you're be ripped to shreds.

Then again EE LOB isn't really relevant at all at this time.

What's your intimidate?  Asking because modern DPS on-destiny do some much more damage than they used to compared to a tank's threat output.  Holding aggro without intim is very dicey.

It's easy to have high dps and/or unnecessary threat
and being able to handle those characters is a part of

Intimidate and stand against the tide will hold over anything but stuff gets dicey at times.  Ubber melees do a shitload of damage now, you're total threat didn't go up nearly as much.

Intolerant blow is nice, but you only get so many.  In long raids like EE CiTW you really can't rely on it, Intimidate never runs out.

Turbine just really cut the nuts off any "tank" built this isn't wearing armor, has a shield, any swings a bastard sword/dorf-axe.  The cookie-cutter just works so well now, it's to best option.   Glancing blows and 30% double-strike is so good.
