Watching all these achievements, I really want to make monkcher but man, 3 third life+ toons in progress might be too much.
Maybe it would work on 1st life with GS bow or something, I always roll new toons when I am baked, so gotta wait till Friday.

LOL GS bow. Pinion/Planar Conflux + Gilvaanor's set are core to the monkcher gear set.

I'm doing just fine on my first life monkcher.
Bows are fucking easy to get with their demand being so low, and you can get your bases covered cheaply with commendaion / cannith challenge gear easily enough.
Really, just learn when to put the bow away and you'll be golden.
So you want to know about an exploit?

Hey Brai posted the basic outline for mine:
http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=4869106#post4869106
I'll make a vague attempt to flesh it out and make it look nice later.
Meanwhile it's another example that you can use to figure
out where you want to go regarding ranged vs melee.
That thief split would also work and you should be able to
do whatever locks/traps.

don't pick rogue, artificer still gets traps / locks / umd, and it means you don't have to take mental toughness.
Rogue offers virtually nothing, since you'll have conflicting sneak attacks and have umd for heal scrolls anyway.

Not to mention rogue loses 2 feats over 1 for artificer.

You're spot on now that I think about it for the arty splash for traps, presuming the thief dilettante.
Something like paladin dilettante though and the thief would be OK, my brain is stuck on trying to not to fall down due to EE cometfalls and such.

In my experience with it (to be fair, I didn't play her much on ee other than the high road), the build can get relevant reflex saves without paladin dilettante without much trouble.

I've cranked up my saves a bit and will try to pay attention
to the dice this weekend to see if ~50+/mid40/50+ does
anything useful and if so then probably finally switch
to thief dil.
I recall getting rocked in the road quests but nelected to
make more careful observations.

I've always wanted to build a Sorc/Pally/Monk multi. but could never make it viable enough to get popular.
I just think it'd be hilarious to see the occasional post on the official forums that said "So I was playing with my spunk the other night..."

It felt too schizophrenic for me. You can't be great at melee or spell casting. You can be ok with either or mediocre at both. Some of the spells are a lot of fun, but others not so much.
I tried to melee, and it just sucked. I was probably doing it wrong but I couldn't be bothered to try harder. My first impression was that it was awful. All the special animal attacks are counted as spells and require spell points. You also can't do them while you're fighting beholders. And each form has different spell attacks so you'll have to focus.
When in animal form you shift to people form and back anytime you open a door, use a lever, open a chest, click a rune... the flashing back and forth gets annoying.
I felt pretty much the same - BUT if you _do_ get a chance to TR it, though, I think you'll appreciate the hell out of the passive past life - especially if you do something with an artificer like a monkcher. Summons and dog are nigh unkillable.
