I have an old bard sitting around with an eSoS in the bank. I'd like to make the best use of it but I have no idea what end game looks like for a DPSer - I've been TRing for a year and just got my main set with all the gear he needs as a 25 FvS.

Suggestions? Insults?

Going human/helf 20 kensai has a slight advantage of not looking like the dumbest ape that ever walked on Faerun.

And moar feats, huge 30 amp, easier to get charisma for silver flame pots.

In Sobrien beat-down tests full-retards barbs  kill him noticably faster than full-retard kensais.  Both toons were ESoS horcs with all the trimming.

This off course might change when U17 goes live and Wild Weapons gets fixed.  Barbs get more glancing blow damage and gain more from this bug.

When blitzing through trash I don't think it matters.  The damage is insane either way.

It comes down to personal preference, I like fighters better because of the feats the ability to pop a displacement clickie during combat.

On the Helf/human the racial 20% damage boost which can be run simultaneous to the fighter haste boost is pretty significant.  If I recall correctly, with eSoS that's around +8 to +10.  The strength difference is +3, so +1 to damage, add in the +4 on THF and the power attack and you are at +7.  But the+7 is always on.  When you run out of boosts, you lose that pop on the damage boost.  Depends on what destiny you will be running and what twists you have.  I like FoTW, but Legendary Dreadnaught would end up with 15-20 boosts that can run back to back with no lapse, so you'd be looking at 5-6 minutes per rest of 20% damage boost.  When in FoTW you will probably  have around 12 or so boosts per rest, depending.

I prefer the human/helf for the healing amp and survivability, but i think it is lower on the sustained DPS.  But it's close enough that most of the time you won't notice the difference.

Running EE the healing amp will be the difference maker. dps is not the be all end all that it was a couple years ago. While still of the most importance, you wont be doing much dps while the getting a rez. This has been the toughest adaptation for melees I have noticed playing my healer. Sacrificing a few percentage points of DPS is more than balanced by adding a little survivability. Think about when cycling spells on your FVS, being able to wait out timers and keeping swinging getting healed by clw mass is much better than going ping or having to back out of a fight.

It's going to be a learning curve, man. I like the idea of seeing the big Horc FB numbers but I'm sick of drinking pots every 3 swings. I'll cap a few destinies on a Helf Fig 20 before I settle on something.

unless you mean silver flame pots dont bother man Wink I just took my 2pally past life Horc fighter to 24 so far and even with An eAGA the DPS numbers are sexy even more so to me (who as you know suffered from the pally/rogue curse) and I havent been in a DPS destiny yet, just finished Unyielding Sentinal.

Well, if you got some dodge, incorporeality, well saves are still autofail for most so meh, and your " hjealer " see stunning blows and trips left and right or even, *gasp* displace clicky, you won't have to chug a pot.

If you can make up for 90 percent of melee idiots I try very hard to not let you die on my watch.

Without healing amp, a cure serious pot is a waste of time in EH or EE content.  You take more damage than you are healling.  Might as well go down swinging.  With serious healing amp (200%+), I can get 60-70 out of a cure serious pot, and 450-500 or so out of an SF pot.  That makes it worth it. 

I agree.  I'd give up 5% on DPS for 30% healing amp, some more HP, some UMD, etc.  It's worth it to me.  Going full tard on the DPS H-Orc has it's appeal at first(especially at heroic levels when you can one and two shot most mobs), but needing a hireling or a healer permanently targeting you gets old, if you ask me.   For both you and the healer.  The hirelings don't bitch (although they should.  Would love to see some of that dialogue from them.  "Did you really need to agro the whole room at once?"), but your guildies will.  If they are anything like my guildies they will mock you endlessly for a low healing amp, mana sponge toon, no matter how much DPS you are doing.

I have 270-280% hamp on my s&b fighter and CSW pots are still a waste of time. 80 damage can be like 2 hits even on EH, even on someone with 110AC/135PRR. Man up and drink a SF pot.
