As someone who had to run vBulletin for years, I promptly told my guildies to get rid of any personal information as well as request their CC information gets cleared (if they aren't subscribing) and just put it in when they are doing purchases..then having it removed again. For years, their "secret boards" were available - even after someone left Mournlands. When they first started out, you didn't require a forum account. Now, it will be externally available - whether you want it or not. And, I know of several times where a person's actual account information got exposed due to bugs / misconfiguration during upgrades (long nights there). All I can think of is "The Wall part II".

Especially since the vBulletin software does not have a history of being secure. (It's the Java of forum software). Then add perhaps some brain bleached PHP noob to "add some features" and puff your personal information is gone. Let's just hope they know how to use salts properly.

	Kal - I believe you; I have no reason not to. I respect that you posted about it; I came here because I suspected someone might. I respect that we can disagree on the point. Here's the thing - people negged me for supporting the decision to get rid of neg rep. Fine. But show your fucking balls and put your name out there if you want to neg me (not you, but whomever did it). My original post had been that people used neg rep when posters simply disagreed - which is bs b/c that is not how it was designed to be used. Now, if I had attacked someone in my posts, hell ya, neg me. My second post was closer to that line than the first. I have never sucked ass to get rep on the DDO forums; yes, I rec'd rep good and bad, fairly frequently. Sometimes deserved, sometimes not. Overall, I don't really care. I posted when I thought it was informative or funny and I go to the forums to see other posters whom I respect. I am always looking for new ideas and a break in my day. Occasionally, some drama is good too. Look, DDO wants to encourage a fun atmosphere on the forums; I don't know if it is "do gooders'. Drama is perfect here and other private forums. If DDO wants to create an more inviting atmosphere for players - and I can see why they would - so be it. Getting rid of neg rep is a step to do that.
