Turbines new game :'Infinite Crisis'

Well, this will be easy enough to ignore.
Quote:
'Infinite Crisis' (Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment/Turbine, fall 2013)

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (part of Time Warner, CNN's parent company) is showing its commitment to the popular free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game genre with its second licensed game in as many years.

With "Guardians of Middle-earth" already a hit, the publisher just unveiled the DC Comics-based "Infinite Crisis." This game allows five players to choose a superhero or supervillain and team up to battle against another team in unique environments based on six alternate universes.

Inspired by the "Infinite Crisis" comic books, this game's original story has the barriers between the different dimensions of the DC Multiverse being torn apart. That opens up six variations of each character -- such as a steampunk-themed Gaslight Catwoman and a bloodsucking Nightmare Batman.

Each character will have unique combat abilities and weapons. The game will launch with a dozen characters, including Flash, Gaslight Joker, Green Lantern, Poison Ivy, Wonder Woman and Doomsday, and three maps. Turbine, the developer, says it will regularly expand the universe with new maps and characters.

Will never play another Turbine game.  After the bug-ridden cluster that is DDO - BUT WORSE: the lack of attention to detail in fixing it after they know it's busted - not making that mistake again.

Too heavily-invested in this one to ragequit, but won't fall for it again.

This is the single reason that WoW (and its successful clones) are still popular.  It certainly isn't because of the game play.
That said, if your investment is the only thing keeping you playing DDO then you're an idiot.
It's a fucking game.  More and more of them come out all the time, and many of those are better in some way or another.  Many of them are certainly less frustrating.  You should be playing a game because it's fun to play, not because you feel you have anything invested in it.

Agreed. I still play DDO because when Velah raises up in VON6 I still catch myself holding my breath.

Same thing when I call for someone to pull the lever in Caverns of Korommar and see the beholder. Or look from Amrath to the Tower of Despair, jump down into the Sub and see the ruined architecture, etc.

The second that doesn't happen is when I quit.

Instant asshole. Just add alcohol.

Well I wanted to play in Simcity... but as the fucking game require that I have a fucking net connection on all the time I play it. It's a fucking single player game. It shouldn't require anything online.
I'm still playing DDO that need a fucking net connection always on while I play, but I don't care it's a massively multiplayer online game, net mandatory comes with the definition of the game.

I see you're still seething about that.  I would have been, too; but thank goodness I read about the always on requirement first.

Let me introduce to you Mr. Fallacy; Sunk Cost Fallacy, to be precise.

Re: That game. Sorry DC, but the 50s called and want their super heros back. Oh, and the 80s left a message for Marvel, could you pass it on?

I honestly thought this was going to be a spoof on some upcoming DDO release.  Offer Wall.  Combat re-calculation.  TWF nerfs.  The PrE "it's coming, no it's not, yes it is, hahaha not it's not" overhaul. The Abbot.  It's like we're already playing "Infinite Crisis", we just don't know it.
