https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/418272-Party-leader-must-provide-hirel...

I was the wizard:

Quote:
The other day my level 6 paladin posts an LFM for Proof is in the Poison. The LFM read, “Elite for BB. All welcome. IP.”

I had just stepped in when a human wizard joined, followed by a half-orc barbarian. The wizard asked who was going to do the traps, and I told him unless a trapper joined we’d have to jump through the traps. He said, and I quote, “That’s stupid.” I told him he could use a hireling if he wanted, and he said that’s not his job because he’s not the party leader.

I think I was right.

Jumping through the traps is a DDO pastime.

If this were the regular forums, I might actually take a few minutes to explain why you were wrong. But since it's the Vault, I'll just roll my eyes and ask for your toon names and server.

There are two traps in Proof, both are very easily avoidable since you can just fucking walk around them.  Just jump on the ledge to the left of the fire-trapped bridge and you don't even come close.

But since you died in the fire then either:

A. You believe that all groups must have hjealer, trapper, buffer, and Crush It! DerpDPS and you died just to prove a point.  (You can BYOH quite easily at level 6 btw.)

or B. You are so unbelieveably retarded that you can't see jets of flame in front of you and figure out that walking through it may shorten your life span.

tl;dr  IMARANGER is fucking retarded and should just shut the hell up.

There are more than two traps in Proof is in the Poison, doofus.  Maybe you meant that there are only two traps that can be disabled?

Yes, I didn't see a need to clarify since the subject was already on the (lack of) necessity of getting a trapper.

That's why there needs to be a healer.  Duh.  And a caster for Acid Resistance.

If your wiz is on Sarlona, and the OP only has toons on Thelanis, I call troll. Why anyone would decide to troll claiming to be a complete moron, I don't know, but not my problem.

I don't know. Maybe he has toons on both Sarlona and Thelanis?  Maybe the OP described something that happened to me and coincidentally I wasn't in his group?

I just don't think it's fair to ask people to use cakes to finish a quest.  I wonder how many resources (cakes) they burned through to finish it.  That's too many TP's for me, and, I think, too many TP's to expect anyone to have to use to complete a quest, even if it is considered one of the more difficult at-level quests in the game.

Edit: I realize some people get free cakes now.  From things like the Birthday Boxes, or whatever.  But I want to save those for special occasions and not waste them to try to complete a quest without a trapper, arcane or healer.

Why the fuck would you need cakes to finish that quest? Do you find yourself also struggling to break crystals?

I don't know what you mean.  There's some House Kundarak bank quest in which it's very hard to break the crystals.  Is that what you mean?

It's so rare to see someone fully embrace their own inner-retard while seemingly blissfully unaware they are doing so.

Fuck you. Quests in DDO are designed to be completed by well-balanced parties.  They aren't designed to be completed by sucking down lots of cakes.

How the hell did you interpret an offer to let you step out and re-enter as a demand that you eat a cake?

And on what planet does the fact that you (incorrectly) think you need a trapper for the quest obligate the leader to spend TP or AS on a completely unnecessary hire?

They didn't demand that I eat a cake.  But they obviously completed by eating cakes.  Also, they wanted me to take an XP penalty for re-entry just so they could complete by munching cakes!

It has been pointed out that in this quest, perhaps a trapper isn't needed.  But a healer and arcane still are if I don't want to spend TP on cakes?  How do you get through the acid hallways without a healer or arcane for acid resistance?

And I'm sure that at home Mommy insists you are the world's most precious little snowflake and Daddy hides his disappointment behind alcohol and a forced smile. But the rest of the world isn't obliged to pander to you in terms you can understand without the use of primary colors and crayons.

You clearly don't understand what is being discussed, on any level. You also don't seem to grasp where the flaws in your argument are. You are totally unable to comprehend that you aren't bright enough to process what it is you don't comprehend.

But, that's okay.... because you are such a precious little snowflake.
