If I was going to roll back, I'd go back to right after MA/LoB were released (U12, iifc).  Need my Alchem Wraps. 

I'd hack it to make seals and shards tradable make the MA/LoB spirits BtA instead of BtC.  Everything they released after that is pretty much a mess.

I think most of the code you are thinking of is on the client side. You would need a copy of a DDO client from that era.

This. Not going to be easy to find somebody with a Client that old.
It's probably more difficult than poring through the dat files to find all the information.
( and after spending odds hours here and there doing that, I can't tell you it's not an easy task, even with the help of Mr Black posts )

In my opinion red fens was the last pack with old school feeling.

After that the aesthetics and artwork of the game and later the way quests are designed started to change slowly. But you know something? a lob era would also do for my imaginary ddo private server, anything but this motu trash..

I'd certainly be there for the LOB era server as well. But I think it would be rather difficult to set it up, find enough players willing to participate in server costs or even enough players to do raids!

And even if that was possible, there might be a few problems:
- will Turbine allow this (even if there is no income for whoever rents the server(s);
- it's not possible to copy our current characters;
- everyone would want esos & eross without farming..

-Turbine cant do shit as long as whoever creates the server takes no income. Proof is all those free servers for every major game.

Let alone transfer what exactly? your lvl 28 or whatever toon on the lvl 20cap elob era server?

-Why anyone would want such a thing, unless he is a fucking retarded 12 yo worthy of rape and bullying. As with every professional made free server this one would have non corrupted stuff, not a bunch of fucking kids helping their friends and make their toons invincible. Heck they wont even play there. That's what creators of free projects do if they want their work to be of some quality.

I have been doing a lot of online searches for a DDO private server, I have found the remnants of a few (they look like Gawnascavern.com now) and a few that **appear** to be active and online, but none of the page links work to
download.



I really really wish there was something out there that was U11 and prior, but I doubt there ever will be.


Too bad the geniuses at DDO haven't figured out just how much older players would pay to have a U11 and prior server to play on.

Whats the wager that if DDO introduced 1 server that was U11 or older it would be the single most populated server in the game?
