So upon returning I am tryiung to figure out which build I think is the best for Shiradi Wiz. I am leaning towards to 14wiz/4fvs/2monk and am currently 16/2/2 trying it out. I see 14/4/2 as superior to 16/2/2 in every way in my mind. Any input or ideas?

Did you ever answer in the other thread why you went with that particular split?
I'm too lazy to try hard so I'll be 18sorc/2fvs. Also I am afraid of change and weird build splits.

16/2/2 is +1 feat, +2 non-force caster level, +3 L8 spells, +1 L7 spell, +HP from enh points.
14/2/2 is +1 force caster level, +spellpower/crit from enh.
I'll be sticking with 16/2/2.
- Don't like cutting a feat.
- I use Otto's and PWS constantly, and BDB is situationally important - not sure how I'd kill eRayium without it.
- Cutting HP would mean dying more. Sergod is blowing 10AP on +1 int instead of 55 HP in 16/2/2 already though.
Sergod likes seeing big numbers, I like not dying. 2 fvs was an obvious addition to the 18w/2m, it's pretty hard IMO to make a case for 4 fvs.
Sorc seems to have higher DPS than wiz, but is always sacrificing something - you lose some combination of saves/evasion/spells/SLAs, and of course feats. The 1K extra mana used to be the draw with sorc, but it's near irrelevant now with Just Rewards.

Pro
4% more crit, a little more spellpower, and +1 CL on force spells (another missile on chain missile)
Gain HP
Con
Lose Ottos and BDB
Lose a feat
-2 CL on non force spells (scorching ray?)
I really don't see how 14/4/2 isn't a no brainer. I don't "lose" any hp by going 14/4/2. I gain HP. I could take the HP enh as 16/2/2 or 14/4/2. They don't go away. I like not dying also. Don't have an issue with it.

How is eRayium relevent when the level cap is 28? The gear from Sands is obsolete.

It's part of my farming rotation, albeit in the later part where I don't often get to it. I'm only 150K or so from cap at this point, but I have a ton of farming characters to bring up yet.
The point is you lose a decent bit of flexibility if you don't get L8 spells, unlike dropping L9s. MM doesn't kill everything, unfortunately.
Sergod will do anything for 0.01% more DPS and that's fine. I balance DPS against other things. Just Shiradis have effectively infinite mana, I'll take any DPS that's easy but I'm not sacrificing too much since things will die eventually anyway.

After testing it on Lamannia, I prefer 4 FvS levels. Black Dragon Bolt and Otto's Irresistable are not compelling reasons with my playstyle. The bonus feat lost at 15 isn't missed either.
