The only thing that could bury ddo is Turbine. Atari almost did it with a lawsuit that stopped Turbine from releasing content for 18 months or so. This "Vast and Mysterious" period turned the servers into a ghost town.(way worse then current populations)

Anyhow, DDO migrated to FTP after the lawsuit was settled and this was how DDO went from
DDO:Stormreach -> DDO:Unlimited -> DDOSTORE:Casual Solo MMO
