I recently wiped the dust off a real old character of mine, capped it out and did some LR in an attempt to optimize a toon that I believe is pure shit. I don't really want to change the 'theme' but I would like to know if there's a better way to accomplish my original goal from so long ago, a drow shortsword melee fvs for EE content. My only issue right now is that I'd like to do more dps and mitigate more damage. I'm not hit often but when I am, 300+ damage is like half his HP. If I'm flicking a cigarette instead of throwing that heal, a 2nd hit could be a killer. I know I could consolidate his gear a bit and maybe free up a ring slot or something. I'm not sure how useful elusive target is. Finally, the info in the planner is in no way optimized for leveling. I just picked shit I remembered selecting when it was available in the planner. It was originally a 18 fvs 2 monk, that ate a +5 wood a few days ago and there's a good chance it would suck ass to level up from 1, or youd be better off speccing as a babysitter until like lvl 25. If this is as good as a shit build like this can be, then I'll probably completionist and epic completionist for the extra bonuses to maximize this toon's potential before it returns to the shelf.

Why the heck would you be in Gmof with such character ?
Go Fury ( HP , dps and CC ), there is no synergy with Gmof whatsoever.
Just twist Dance of flowers.

It can't be much worse than whatever twf there.

Get prowess, Pale Lav is swap item.
Maybe get 30 amp parry bracers ( you got all way charisma for saves then you don't slot 4 insight saves .. Undecided)

Nice saves but whole concept of overkill defences is not gonna help you kill shit faster.

more dps? choose a better destiny. i like LD on my melee fvs, twisting in primal scream, dance of flowers and either grim precision or sense weakness.
get cleave, great cleave and OC (assuming you hit the 23 str requirement). Toughness and mental toughness? Why?
try to fit in at least the 3rd tier of monk stances, to get the extra +1 crit multi from earth stance. with 6 monk, that's only 1 more feat, since you get adept for free.

Those are some sexy boots. I want some like that.

I took gmof specifically for the no auto fail saves shit, but also enjoy the saves boost, 10% fort bypass, ghost touch, and extra 1.5W while centered. I'm sure a better melee destiny might boost dps but will the auto fail 1s cause deaths with such low drow hp? Id hate to be laid out for 10 seconds from a greater command or comet and tick away slowly from some dot with such low hp.

I came to the same conclusion after I posted and want the prowess for the +3 con and the bonus, since my default weps are dual celestia.

If i can find a 10 con 50 hp ring, and move dex somewhere else, that bracer is a great idea if i can also find that.

I remember taking that extra 15 prr on my monk, but overlooked it here. Good call, I will definitely fit that in. I thought I had some kind of reason for the 3rd pally level, but divine grace is 2 so I'm not sure what my intent was. Does Shadow Veil stack with EE ring of shadows, which is already providing a 25% disp?

I cant get close to the OC requirements without sacrificing from Cha. I had cleaves initially despite this, but ended up swapping them out for toughness and emp heal after seeing the drop in dps that using them caused and wanting more survivability. Overall I do like the idea of fitting in the higher tier stances and will heavily consider the 6 monk 2 pally concept. As noted previously, GMoF is pretty much chosen just to get the no auto fail saves from the Perfection of Self line. I'm getting the feeling that you guys don't really value that too much? I thought on a build with saves this high, that would be obligatory. Mental toughness was added cause i was afraid of running low on SP, but it really hasn't been an issue and I will drop it as you suggest, if i go 6 monk, to fit in the extra tier of stance.

If shadow veil DOES stack with ee r o shadows, and displacement, then it is mandatory.

I also could move some cha into str to make oc work but itl cost me SP, and Saves. If i took 3 of the cha level ups and put them in str, and got a +5 str tome I could be OC qualified, then would need to fit the cleaves back in, all while  squeezing in the monk stance tiers. How much lower can I take my unbuffed saves while retaining their usefulness?

lowest unbuffed saves that still nofail on a 2?

Is it ok to autofail on 1's with drow HP?

Pretty sure shadow fade is the same bonus type as EE ring/displacement. Maybe 3rd pally level for fear immunity?

As far as no-fail on a 1, I don't really find it that important, but I don't have many characters with saves that ONLY fail on a 1. I am bad at DDO.

An extra +1 multiplier on crits might be worth 2 points of charisma. It is to me. If you do go with 6 monk, it might be easier to fit in the feats you need. You'll get a 3rd martial arts feat at monk 6, which you can use to take twf, thereby taking something else, perhaps one of the cleaves to quality for OC. Or barring that, that feat slot could be your 3rd tier of stances. You'll get +1 multi from the earth stance and extra PRR.

I'd say as long as your saves are still in the mid 60s you should be fine. Higher is always better, but at some point you're sacrificing too much for a few more saves.

you're at 734 hp. If you go into LD or FOTW, don't you get bonuses to HP? And you can also twist in scream for 5 more con. That's a decent amount of extra HP you'll be getting.

I am excited to try some of these changes but will wait until a few more of the regular build critics make an appearance.

edit: dropped 1 hendrick weapon training, 2 ranks from reed in the wind, and shintao +1 con (6 points) to take 3 ranks in iron skin. If I go 6 monk, ill move the remaining point in reed to the 3rd tier core ability for another 5% hamp.

edit 2: I also plan to drop the other xendrik wep training to get the 2 points needed to get to shadow veil if i go that path, which would free up a ring slot at the cost of ghostly.

Wrath Form, Ghostly, Shadowveil = same bonus.
Displace, Blur,Lesser Displace = same bonus.
Cloudkill, Obscuring Mist etc = same bonus.

All three stack, Displace etc wouldn't work against ( some ) bosses .

I thought you didn't want to blow another heart, but if yes cookie cutter 6mnk/2pally why not.
Stop obsessing about fails on only 1, great saves are awesome to have though.
Fury 800- 900 hp would be high enough with that dodge and stuff. And no fail CC with Adrenalines which is awesome with 90 % off hand.
If you will go 6 monk then( no need for Ghostly ), Planar Focus+WGU ring+Warpriest+Earth+Shintao PRR thing= good PRR.

hopefully not, its badass; this is as good a time as ever to call something that's too hard to fix 'WAI'

I've since done the 12/6/2, its fun as shit, also fit in overwhelming crit and master of forms. both were worth it, saves, ac, and prr still near 70 in fury. 805 hp, 25% dodge, took shadow veil. I dropped toughness, mental toughness, blinding speed, and deflect arrows and along with extra monk feats added cleave, great cleave, imp pierce, overwhelming crit, adept and master of forms. Did fit in the magic backlash, and its totally boss. Despite this, I don't think its good enough to warrant getting fixed in any rush if at all.

One exceptionally lame thing I've encountered is that the wrathful weapons line breaks celestia's dr. I don't know if the favored implement enhancement also does that in the other fvs tree. I wish they would sort out celestia's dr and make that slot red but I know they'll never fix it cause they're dicks

I appreciate all your assistance in fine tuning this build.

Yeah the fvs thing breaks celestia. Sad. I know Mo campaigned for a while on the motherboards to get it fixed, even offering solutions that mimicked the intended functionality, to no avail.

To be honest I'm not sure it's such a huge issue, AP are so tight that as long as you can fulfil the requirements to hit tier 5 stuff without having to take too much fluff (and I think you can definitely do this in WP), I don't mind one particular line being broken. Not that I'm trying to be an apologist for turdbine, but I gave up on getting any timely fixes for things that matter to players long ago...

AP is tight, its 10 AP in a tree i take to i think it was 38 points in. I'll lose +5 enhancement and 15 implement spellpower on every weapon I own, some vorpal effect involving light damage. and have to spend 8-10 AP on things that I dislike/are gay in the warpriest tree to keep the other tier 5's. Its a issue, albeit not a big one, one worth bitching about. On that note, I think I will.

If they couldn't fix the weapon, they should have at least changed the weapon breaking effects into toggles, like a stance, or made celestia negate any effects that would fuck its shit up. All the issues you encounter in this game are not as much limits of the engine, but rather are oversights and misunderstandings between people who design and people who code, followed by an unwillingness to commit resources into revising semi-completed content.

I like to think this difference between what is asked of the coders, and what is produced by the coders, was a large factor in the recent staff changes. I guarantee you that whom ever designed Celestia on paper, did NOT have a list of effects before hand they wanted to break it. Who ever coded it, however, was not crafty enough to determine what WOULD break it nor determine a means to circumvent these issues. Coders who created other item altering effects were not considering the issues with celestia. In typical turbine fashion, they just slapped WAI on it because it was too hard to sort out.

Regardless, I bitch in vain, and expect no further fixes that aren't exploit/ddo store/income based since the layoffs. The remaining staff is probably the optimal setup to maintain money generating aspects of the game and not much else.
