"Miscellaneous Changes

It is now possible to uninstall the Akamai NetSession client, and the client will not be re-installed upon subsequent launch of the DDO client unless necessary to deliver a missing file or new game client installation.
The required EULA for the Akamai NetSession client has been corrected to no longer contain language about upload or peer-to-peer technology, which has been disabled for our installation of the client. "

I am no expert, but does one need to install netsession, then remove it to run DDo without it? Still no way to bypass it other than PyLotro? I never installed it to begin with, but when I run the turbine launcher, I still get the sign up form.

If that is the case then it is fucked up. No way am I installing that.

I would think you can just uninstall every thing from your program files that is Akamai related. After the update of course..

I'm trying it now. I'm updating as I write this, will wait for it to finish, uninstall Akamai and see if anything happens when I quit and restart the launcher.

I tested it... My Akamai install was Sent to Coventry ( aka the rights to the Akamai directories were set to : Cannot Read, Cannot Write, Cannot Execute ).

I copied back my old launcher ( from 2010 ) since the current launcher wouldn't have worked with Akamai sent to Coventry.
It updated the game fine. I had to fight a bit with the splash screens, but other wise the update went fine...
After that I closed the launcher, removed all my restrictions on the Akamai directory, hit the Control Panel, REmove Softwere, Akamai Shit.

Then I ran regedit, made a search for Akamai, and removed all the entry left.
Last I checked that the directory was a goner...

I started the launcher again... and it stands ready for my password right now. Testing it... Works fine.

Thanks Flav. I will try my simpler process and report back, but fall back on yours if it doesn't work. Smiley
