Hi,
Not too sure what to put here.

I've been playing DDO since around update 8 came out.  I used to play pnp back when the D&D Box sets came out, as well as 1st edition AD&D. Anyways that's it for now.

I am torn, part of me wants to say welcome to someone who made such a fitting post and mentioned playing PnP.  The other half of me wants to tell you to GFY and that this useful crap belongs in the Introduction forum.

Welcome to The Vault. Smiley

Ha! It's all good.

All you missed out on was the Dungeons and Dragons drama back then when certain christian groups and parents feared the game promoted such practices as devil worship, witchcraft, suicide, and murder!

I can even remember a TV movie about the topic, if you can believe it. Lol. Smiley

Yea, all of that was still being echoed in my childhood. Then, I think, the stigma leaped to video games.

It seems we started around the same time.
But luckily I didn't have any problems with the mentioned D&D drama.

I refuse to believe 1983 existed.  Or those clothes.

The box sets are similar to AD&D but simplified rules and classes. The boxes contained a players and Dungeon Masters manual and set of dice. They released 5 boxes. Basic: levels 1-3, Expert: level 4-14, companion rules 15-25, and Masters: Level 26-36. They also had a box set called immortals.

Immortals was so promising, and yet so lame. Good thing one of the prime rules for D&D was "use what you like; drop what you don't."

I don't think you could play those properly without ignoring a lot of it. I could never find anything and ended up with papers sticking out all over the place.
