It's not a DoT, it's burst damage, and it is a gamechanger.

1. It fully penetrates all resistances and reductions including a Death Wyrm with 5 death lords up and another purple name who is usually immune to damage. "Everyone cast ruin on the count of 3" is an excellent strategy for ending the Death Wyrm raid.

2. Action economy. It deals all that damage up front with one casting. Meaning that you can cast a ruin and still do full CC and/or necro duty while dealing meaningful dps. No worries about missing a casting while CC'd/out of range/not facing and having to waste time restacking.

3. DPS Potential. You want to cast all three of those spells when the situation calls for maximum dps. Yes it is expensive, yet I rarely run out of sp. When I do, there's  bauble, twisted talisman, RoSS, and a 100 stack of SP pots.

4. The effect of spell power on ruin might be borked/non-standard. I have been seeing 4k+ non crits and 9k+ crits with about the same spell power that you list.)

He is piking because he is stealing kills from the blitzer and dealing 0 dps. Yes, I was in a fire dragon raid with him last week.

Taking Ruin is going to cost my caster 1 DC across the board.  If I find that this shit sucks, and I can't swap it back out, I will come find you and kill you.  But I'll take a look at it.  Thanks for the reply.

Ruin sucks balls. Hard and deep. The only place it's useful is when two red dragons are fucking each other with blue balls.

And that problem is very solvable by letting them kill the moron who got aggro of both.

How does it suck?  Considering *some* people have infinite SP nowdays, why even care about how much SP it costs?

here is what i did


so far


tier 2 orb
150 negative SP
+6 to necro DC
organge slot (combustion 138)

*future
17% crit chance
colorless (+2 charisma insight)


tier 1 sickle (just cause it looks kewl)
150 corrosive sp
orange slot (meridian fragment)

*future
+7 spell pen
eternal chill darkness (on neg/cold spell damage +50 sp 30 seconds)

i just need 20 more shadow scales to make the tier 2 on the sickle.


so.. just ship buffs, 69 necro DC.. woot! Grin
