One of the best (if not the best) space combat games ever made, with a very rich storyline. Definitely worth a try if you haven't played through it yet.

Once i lose my final saga stone to lag burps i'll fire this one up and shoot down some space pussies.

This doesn't even hold a candle to freelancer.  But it's still pretty damn good.

I've always preferred the setting of the wing commander games to the freelancer one, might just be nostalgia but as far as fearsome enemies go, kilrathi>nomads imo.

I agree with both of you. Privateer was a better game (mechanics, etc.) but Wing Commander setting (universe, races, cinematics) was more fun.
