do orbs qualify as shields for stalwart defender? im assuming no

They don't. But, in u23 medium/heavy armor qualifies for it so you can still use an orb and have the higher stalwart stuff work (str/con/hp).

Also, for the OP, it might not be the "optimal" split, but currently running 9druid/8fighter/3ranger and it is quite a beast. Excited for monday, as everything about it will be even better.

im leaning towards 13 druid 5 fighter 2 ranger atm
having regenerate and regen cocoon seems nice with the 2.5x cooldowns im planning on going into stalwart defender tree for more surviveabilty and since medium armor apparently now (u23) meets the requirements for stalwart defense stance
im wondering why people lean towards a 4 fighter 3 ranger split, was it for tier two whirling blades?

3 ranger = tempest core 2 which = 10% more off hand attacks.

Use heavy, more PRR/MRR.

I thought that was not functional in animal form.

it works when dual wielding, it doesn't work with handwraps.

ie.  equip two weapons when in animal form and it works nicely.

OK, but we are talking about SWF builds.

No we're not, the thread is titled swf / twf.  Just because the ability doesn't work with handwraps and possibly not with a single weapon equipped in animal form doesn't make it off topic.

Everyone else is running both at the same time, so your earlier post sounded like you were confirming tempest core 2 functioning in wolf form with 1 weapon equipped.

There isn't a way to test this, really. The ranger levels grant twf and taking the enhancement would give 10% more doublestrikes in wlf form. I guess if all doublestrike set to 0 and I counted how many 2nd hits I got from 100 attacks should be 30%

The monk +10% offhand works in form right? And they stack...So you could test if GTWF+tempest+shintao=100% offhand strikes.

What the hell are you on about?

It's easy to pick up GTWF and the second tempest core enhancement without picking up any double strike:

Single weapon fighting feat chain offers no double strike:
Two weapon fighting chain offers no double strike:
The tempest core enhancements offer no double strike until 5th core.

So:

rolling up a PDK 1fighter  > 2druid > 12 ranger would be an easy testing platform.

Feats:
1: Cleave (H) Power Attack  (F) Single Weapon fighting
3: Dodge  (D) Wolf
6: Great Cleave
9: Improved SWF
12 : GSWF
15: Improved Crit Bludgeoning.

At this point the build has the entire twf chain and the entire SWF chain, and no double strike granted from feats or class levels.

To get 100% (-20% wolf) off hand attacks without any double strike get the following enhancements:

You now have a build with 0 double strike and 100% -(20% cause wolf) off hand proc rate.  This build should only ever get 0-2 hits per attack.

Test it with two weapons equipped, then test it with one weapon equipped and you're done.  (ps. screenshots of test would be nice for wiki / general knowledge)

I'll agree that with only 3 ranger it's a bit difficult to test, but the difference between 60% off hand procs and 80% off hand procs should be easily noticeable.

Maybe, but wolves dont get the 20% base with 2 weapons because the way wolf form is coded as single weapon with 30% attack speed. It's why off hand is in practice main hand. 80% might be their cap on a 2monk 3 ranger build with g2wf.

Ranger cores work you can get 100% offhand with a monk ranger split, tested that today.
Orbs dont provide prr/mrr so you can use em only for slots, also they dont proc any kind of shield bashes while in wolf form.
Didnt test heavier shields since that kills point of swf.
Was checking harper int to damage, i get perfect ap spent on a build idea i have, every single ap is spend for something tha makes the build stronger.
Tested several other things, as dance of death from t5 tempest, having a 10 sec duration and 15 sec cd and allowing me to attack 4 targets at once while using growing storm gives me equivalent to 20 str due to 10 damage i think going 5 ranger is a no brainer as no other tree provides such a buff to damage.
Option is to pick rangers evasion go str based with con and int as second stats whiles picking ins reflex, can hit viable reflex and evasion, combined with all other things for apsorb i think elemental damage will prove to be of no issue.
Prr high hp high str super high, lotsa temp sustained damage buffs for crazy mad damage.
Imo harper int, ins reflex and a 5 druid spli with current dance are no brainers for future druid swf builds.
I can post a total breakdown once i tr over to a 10 druid 6 ranger 4 fighter which will happen tonight.
Was monkcher in new raid to do some runs n such like first time en and eh on cannith, we tried ee but we suck so bad that we couldnt control main platform.
As i was on knight duty, we enterd later 3 man to test cc and some tactics for raid and us 3 managed to keep plat clear..
Which is kinda sad as us 3 were on dknight duty.
Simply put you cant trust pugs on this server.
Also tested how much abbots burst does on ee.
With 7 arcane plifes 30 mrr imp evasion 79 reflex save and fire shield blue, his burst hit me for a nice chunk of 800 damage. Was quite funny.
Anyways new druid should be quite powerful, in case you dont trust me i suggest you fellas try dance from t5 and growing storm, they are so incredibly strong and synergetic with swf that its mindblowing.
What swf builds got was aoe, even more crazy burst damage and .. semi godly survival..
I dont know what turbine was thinking with this change heh..
All i can say is fuck paladins, even tho a 15 palie 5 range with balanced attacks might be ok.

Wolves don't get base 20% off hand, so even if ranger core 2 was working max is 80.

Not sure if they dont, i think they are coded as hand wraps for that case.
And that you get initial 20% as well.
As i got a offhand strike when i was playing around with a 12 fight 2 drui 1 cleris sun elf wout 2 weapon feats.
Also i got a off strike every single time on a 12 ranger 2 druid 1 fight iconic today.
And i was hitting dummy over 100 times, so pretty sure my test is accurate heh /dont ask why i did it, i just missed swf druid compared to shitty bf monkcher

This is what i came up with for over for now, has all feats i need and want and should offer to be quite powerful.
Some feats might be reorderd for leveling sake, was just put together in planer with basic idea.
Could add ap i spend when 20.
Twists will be sense/balanced/cocoon and shield mastery as it aplies its prr while orb is equiped.
Int was set to 14 since i will use int gear and harpers int buff, possible to drop a nat fight for ins reflex and focus more on int, not needed tho imo since the mrr should be sufficient with my plifes and divines block energy
Dmight for druids? Well ty very mucho turbine

This is not the best swf split, but it is best for my playstyle which is to zerg ees and dont give a fk about red alert, with the added burst aoe capablity and prr/hp buff i can say that i really look forward to see this at 28

To add minor info for those that didnt try out druid with this update.
The lag when on ladders and pulling stuff and shapeshifting is gone.
I got no idea what they did, but its entirely gone now

im curios as to how you would spend your ap in this tree im assuming that you would go for dance of death in ranger tree i was thinking about how to spend ap in this split and alpha strike from natures warrior looks attractive for even more ridiculous aoe dmg but that would limit the survivability you could get from stalwart defender tree (i want to try stalwart defender with a druid split to test out the new way the stance works with no shield)

Leftovers go into harper for kta, that int dmight.
I will rethink couple choices in stalwart as beside stance and stance upgrades most things dont give any real benefit to me.
Armor wise its really simple, oath prevents you to use metallic armors but as dragonscales dont act as metallic ones, plan is to use hdragonscale black for leveling and at cap a guardian shadowscale heavy to abuse the nice dr/prr this build can achieve.
I was thinking to go for aplha strike myself but its cd didnt impress me and i dont like breaking my attack animations with cleaves, i never used them in former build as well.
With dance lasting 10 secs and 15 sec cd, that will allow me to have a 4 target aoe that aplies balanced attacks and all other nasty things like mortal etc.
Aoe wise i think this is the way to go.
Survival wise its really retarded, i had for example full 60 prr as lv 2 pure druid.
This thing fully geared will be real fun, and also nice synergy with libram due to int stat on it.
Only wish i could somewehow use the char as well.
Well anyways, it will be sturdy unkillable and i can alrdy bet that it will outdps any paladin hybrid even tho i have nice palie builds as well in planer and guildie is doing one for his next life. I cant go with the palie flow since i want a build that is really ultra strong and that can handle main platform in mark more or less solo, since the dknights duties are easy no matter who you put there.
