Hey guys,

I've been wondering, is that difficult to extract the sound archives? Been lurking for a long time, but I only saw one guy that made a aplication blah blah blah something and years ago put some of the musics of the game on Youtube.

I'd love to do some stuff with the sound archives... like the casting eldrich voice... the rage effect... but never found it.

I have a strange local that I found something:

The old application still works ( DAT unpacker )

The client_sound.dat file format hasn't changed, just the String Tables DID might have changed... But if you're extracting all the sounds you don't care, you just want the binary sound files files in their original format... once you have the OGG ( Vorbis OGG format ) it's a piece of cake to make them in MP3.

I'm not the only Vaultie in the PC....

And as long as we don't break our NDA or do something stupid in game ( read : dupe like a mad and post in the ASAH the duped stuff. ) it seems to be ( relatively ) safe.

As the links I've put show the stuff is nothing but new... It's been there for at least 3 years, it's been discussed openly in the official forum ( with extracted textures posts there )...
I'd say that as long as you don't start rumaging in client_gamelogic.dat and start posting actual drop rates for Raid Named items you're safe from the Exxxxxxxtreme Prejudice.
And it's something I have no intention to do... I'm just answering to a question : how to extract the sound files...

Compared to Mournlands, Being an active member of The Vault, is not automatically detrimental.
I'm sure that if there's a major leak from the PC into the Vault I'll be looked at closely ( as well as all the other vaulties in the PC, which is probably about half the members more or less ).
