USB Soundcard that works with DDO's VOIP?

For various reasons I'd rather not get into, my computer is in one room and my desk is in another. Everything else is working great, but piping the sound through approximately 50 feet is not. So I am shopping for a USB sound card, that way I can just have the sound card in the same room as me.

I know there's a handful of different brands out there, I'm wondering if anyone knows of/has one that they know works with DDO. Personally, I don't think I have EVER had voice chat work properly for me, and frankly I'd like to change that.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

I'm not sure what you're trying to implement. Are you going to run a 50' USB Cable from the computer to a USB dongle/soundcard?  Grin

Some kinda networked audio streaming box?

I just use a BT headset. It'll still cut out if I put to many walls between it and the computer, though.

I run approximately 50' foot cables from the computer to the actual desk, yes Tongue the USB cables are more like 25' but need a few feet of extensions on either end and usually a powered hub at the desk end. The actual distance of the cable run is maybe 35', but since they don't MAKE 35' cables I have to settle for 50. Got a nice amount of slack on either side Tongue I use fixtures for rain gutters to manage all of the cables.

But yes, I'd be running a USB cable from the desk to the computer and having the sound card on the desk. Technically under it, if you want to be precise Tongue

I don't like Bluetooth or headsets. I have a nice microphone on a boom(did you know I'm crazy?) but I seem to be the victim of some sort of gypsy curse regarding microphones.

Anyway, I originally dropped this hoping someone could name a sound card they KNOW works with DDO's voice chat, getting kind of tired of being the only one without voice but I always seem to hit some incompatibility somewhere...

To be honest, DDO voice chat is always soft and washed out for me no matter what I try.
Bought good cans and it makes no difference, the source is just not that good.
Tis a shame causes I hate typing in the middle of a busy quest.
They say half the PUGgers don't listen and the other half don't get/read messages. I seem to get peeps that do neither ...
Undecided

I get really frustrated by all the people who flat out refuse to type. "My microphone is working, so no matter how many times you tell me you can't hear me, I am going to continue talking."

But what's weird is that mine has literally just never worked. I can usually hear others, but no one can ever hear me. Now, at least part of that is the completely ridiculous nature of microphone settings(I swear, it can be muted in like 4 diffent places) And this is a problem that has followed me through about 8-9 computers and 6-7 mices.

Obviously, the problem is me, but how do I fix that?

Long walk off a short pier?
Playing in traffic?
Starting a land war in Asia?
Wearing Cowboys gear in 'Da Burgh?
Dying in a Fire?

Those don't "fix" the problem, they just make it less annoying for everyone else Tongue

I used to have a deaf friend playing DDO who explicitly indicated this upon starting/entering a group.
And some idiots kept speaking on the mic.

I've been through that too.
Depends on your version of windows, your hardware and any software that might also be controlling your audio.

First check are the mute settings.
Second is ensure you mic boost is on in the record tab.
Third is to make sure the right hardware is selected in DDO under audio.
Mine keeps resetting a lot.
Check the drop down and make sure you have the right input device selected.
See if that helps.
