I would expect Greensteel to be the older version of Keen though, as GS has been untouched but StK loot got Feathered. (Shadow Star shows Keen I, other items had slots added.)

I wonder if it's counting Shadow Star's base crit as 19-20. I'm pretty sure I remember critting on 17 when I was level 3.

I've tested it like 30 times. I'll test again when I get home. It doesnt roll a crit confirm under a 17 for my thrower in LD, shadowstar does. Wasted a lot of mats on it too. Oh well.

BTW, I was testing shadowstar tonight and decided to test Sting of the Ninja.

Here's a screenshot, with 20 full stacks it was only doing 90-110 damage on a crit. So with bugged crit in DC you would be doing 100*.75=75 damage per hit on a pure Monk, or in my case 60 damage a hit in DC (7-20).

Unfortunately you can't afford that and KtA if you're halfing.

With upcoming changes, if they stick to them, it's going to be all about:

Human/Helf/PDK 12 Ranger 6 Monk 2 Fighter. Dual boost, KtA, Tier 5 DWS, 26 AP in Ninja Spy for Poison (or 28 for all 4 SA dice for 7 total with 3 from DWS).

You could swap 2 Fighter for Pal, but I like the feats and the extra ABs in Kensei for dual boosting.

That will be the best of all thrower worlds I think. And I'd probably run it in Earth Stance, since Doubleshot will be so high the 4 Dex isn't worth 10% of physical damage from the extra crit Mod, except maybe on high fort stuff. Once they fix the threat stacking on Shadowstar, probably crit range will go back to 17-20 in LD, and then the poison is only around 20dmg a throw, and going deeper racial tree or Harper (or even AA at that point) might make more sense.

20d4 with 100% vulnerability averages to 100. So 90-110 sounds about right (and is what I usually see.) Critting on a 5 is an 80% crit rate though, not 75. So it's 80 vs 70.

In any case, I'm not doing any build planning until this balance shitstorm settles down.

You can get passive ki regen, this means you generate ki (+1 to +3) over time, every 6 or 10 seconds or so.

And ofcourse you can just switch to melee weapons, hit a few seconds and, tada - ki

Twist Enlightenment ki regen from GMoF destiny, or put points into Contemplation in Henshin, or switch to Water stance whilst running between packs of mobs, or sneak occasionally and put points in Ninja Spy's Stealthy, or melee, or mix and match the above according to need/circumstance.

Oddly, he was "right" about the 14/6 monk/ranger being more dps than a pure 20. Downside is needing to micro-manage timers of skills properly as well as swapping between stars and bows.

It's such a massive difference that you would have to be a complete dunce-cap to not be able to switch between abilities enough to make it matter.

The changes to 10k hit Pure Monk really hard because of their low double-shot, and the nerf to crit threat and fixing of keen bugs just crushed them even more. Allowing for Crit threat in DWS to not require halfing and therefore get Doubleboost was the icing on the cake (though halfing still remains a very solid choice for SA heavy builds).

Where pure monk was closer to even on DPS before the latest changes, though still a little bit behind, it is now so far behind the only reason to keep them is flavor or stubbornness.

I know everyone hates me for being right, or already hates me and hates me more now, I don't make the rules I just try to min/max them.
