Wow, I love that idea. I have many items like that, stuff that pulled me through some quest by the edge of a knife and isn't worthwhile anymore, but has sentimental value.
I generally dislike the idea that inventory management is a problem they created with their endless new systems, and then expect us to buy our way out of. But I think I would throw money at a trophy case!
I remember something like it in LOTRO when housing arrived.
Over the years, I've seen some good posts on the subject (and lots of disparaging remarks too). It doesn't need to add any power creep and it can be a store item. I would go so far as to not sell it and make it an unlockable/achievable goal. Eg. 5000 favour, or complete every Epic raid in the game on Elite or something that makes it require some effort but not be unachievable (I suggest Epic raids only as it is getting harder for newer players to even run the older raids, let alone on Elite. Doh, problem would be trying to find a group to run CITW on EE these days.).

Some would want it as a proxy epeen, whereas I don't want to show anyone, I just want to be able to put it somewhere and reflect on "I remember that"
I don't have a firm view on how best to implement it, but I think the concept is good.
Put it as an accessible location, so it doesn't take up server memory unless accessed.
