Be afraid, be very afraid. (SB: crafting storage)

From release notes:

Quote:
The Bag Deposit Box has been renamed to Shared Bank: Crafting Storage.
It is now possible to craft remotely from your Shared Bank: Crafting Storage supply. Eldritch devices and Barter UI NPCs will now automatically search Crafting Storage for recipe ingredients.
The Shared Bank: Crafting Storage still accepts the same items from bags it accepted when it was called the Bag Deposit Box, even items that are not necessarily crafting ingredients
.

Am I the only one thinking that this could be the start of the biggest fuckup in DDO history. All the possible bugs this could cause?

I am afraid now. I need hugs.  Shocked

Or a beer. Ok, a beer will do.

Lol, lag the whole game now instead of crafting instances.
Brilliant.
This is just like they are thinking of new ways to piss off people and see who will stay to the end.

Especially if you look at the small prints contained in the Known Issues....

Like chain upgrading to a T2 Tunderforged ( well once the fact that it doesn't work is fixed ) item a single T2 item over and over until you don't have enough ingredientsd anymore...
AKA Duped Stuff Drain.

Well in their defense (can't believe i'm doing this) the crafting device lag is not instance wide but only client.  I tested with 2wo clients side by side.

I do have a concern how this will impact access to the bank tho.  It's still sluggish upon opening, and the frickin thing seems to auto-close on 1/2 of my toons after about 10 seconds.  Annoying.

Another non-requested change.  Sigh.

Is this intended to be an anti-exploit measure, so you can't shift stuff between items to trick the crafting devices?

As others have raised - how much time was spent on this and how bugged will it be?
They've loaded the gun, finger on the trigger and pointed it at their foot.  It's only going to end one way.   Undecided

And thumbing their nose at those of us who have been asking for a spell component pouch forever. "No sorry, can't have spells look in containers, too hard, not possible. Oh hey look, we have the crafting device automatically look in ... oh, ha ha ha ha ha!"

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

It sounds to me like they are positioning to eliminate bags altogether. (presumably to prevent another dupapalooza relapse.)

you can still shift stuff between items...

I'm dubious... because it opens so many possibilities of fucking up things... And eliminating the bags altogether is not something I want to think of...
It would range somewhere between The Offer Wall and 20th List Change as a game killer. There's quest where you NEED to have bags around to store all the shit that drops.
( examples : Shroud,  all the Cannith quests/raid with all the ingredients that drops there, and there's more. )

The Gem and the Collectie bags have always been there, they are part of the original game... The Ingredient Bag came with the Shroud IIRC.
We all know that they hate touching the Spaghetti Code from that time ( pre-F2P )... It's going to be interesting to see the effects if they try to touch it.

Well I wasn't presuming that it wouldn't be flawed, but...I figure that if they can set up ingredients/collectables/gems/etc to deposit directly into bags and they can set up crafting/barter to pull directly from the bank, then they can probably set it up to deposit ingredients/collectables/etc directly to your bank. Theoretically anyway.
