Hurry up and win then.
I suggest we plan a grand entrance involving a tactical door opener, balaclavas & body armour and wearing full Vault paraphernalia.

With the opening line being "Hello fellas, we're back....."

Ah daydreams...    Roll Eyes

Someone I know who works on LoTR pretty much confirmed it to me today, said word is they are tying to bring in someone from the outside to take over DDP producer position, that's upsetting the turbine staff.

Actually starting to get my hopes up.

I was told today that the Turbine was definitely looking outside the company and that the natives were restless as well.

It is hard to credit that anyone within the company would want the position, but I suppose sometimes it's just nice to be asked at least.

I can't believe you burned that account for such a small jab man. You should really hop onto the mains and go crazy tonight, make full use of your remaining hours to wreak havoc.

If true that could be nice or a mess.  But at least from outside Turdbines culture.

Instead of firing them you could just chuck a vending machine in a pit with a 9 foot ladder, they climb down, they pay you for food, they get stuck at bottom of hole due to ladder bug.

Having the hole at 9 foot deep ensures future hilarity at watching them try to jump and lift themselves out.

Please nobody insult my idea by suggesting that at only 9 foot they could utilise some team work to get out....

I'd probably just go hang out on a tropical island if I won the lottery, drink lots of rum, smoke a few cigars, pick up some girls.

You're strange.

Outside the company can be good, but it depends on how much autonomy and resources they're provided.

I have to say I am surprised though.
Sev_Pay must have seriously screwed up to get punted at this stage.

Given his role taking AC into maintenance, he had the experience to take DDO into maintenance mode too.  Revenues must have really dropped?

Maybe he's being moved sideways into a technical/project role - eg. the server farm migration to a new data centre?

I fucking hope that whoever it is that Warner Brother brings in will see how incompetent fat Jerry is at his job and replace him with a more qualified replacement, like a shit flinging ape.

Between Sev pay and fat Jerry the game is a fucking wreck.

All I would say is that a producer needs a certain level of people skills to be effective, even the producer of a MMORPG, surprising as that might be to some of us.

The story of Severlingus yelling at Jerry made me feel sympathy for Jerry. Nice to see that even Turbine/WB understands how fucked up that is.

That's baffling to me. I've been saying for years that smaller, more frequent updates are the way to go. It keeps the players more engaged, and from a development perspective it's much easier to maintain quality. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't believe you. I just wish I could understand why?

It's Turbine. The field for stupid, illogical, and tone-deaf decisions has been thoroughly tilled, seeded, watered, and yields bumper crops.

All mushrooms, so you know what kind of soil they dig.

Probably because we get the smaller bit but not the more frequent bit. Need the whole pie.

Not impressed with PERKS, other than being in the Warner Bros 401K.  I don't see stock options or an employee stock purchase plan.

I have NEVER seen any company actually tell me that there is FREE Fruit Tuesday's and FREE bagel Friday's.

That is almost like telling me there are FREE restrooms.  Which if you are from overseas, that just might be a perk.

Chair Massages, Dry Cleaning, Manicures & Pedicures, and Local Food Trucks are NOT FREE.  I have to pay for them.

I will start the rumor, Cordovan is moving to the Mobile Game Community Manager job.  Congrats Cordovan.

As much as I hate the motherboards mostly because of Jerry and Jerry's Kids, I do wonder if a decent manager couldn't turn him around. He doesn't strike me as evil so much as clueless easily swayed. Maybe the phrase I want is Weak Minded Fool. If somebody competent gave him some sane guidance and periodic oversight, he might become a decent employee. He's a huge problem, but I don't think he's the root problem.

The same would have gone for FeattherOfSun - He was cut loose without guidance and out of frustration did his own thing and horrible damage to the game, but he had enthusiasm, was hard working, and he really cared. He took it hard when his efforts were panned. If a decent manager could have guided that in a positive direction, it could have done a lot of good for the game instead of all the damage it did.

Almost nobody is naturally great at their job, some can become great on their own, but most need a mentor and some time. I doubt Jerry has any mentoring by a competent person, he's been dominated by the likes of Urlock and influenced by Geoff. Real leadership at Turdbin could work wonders.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

FeatherofSun was a Political Science major.  He couldn't find a job in his field of choice, but he was lucky enough to find a company that paid him a salary for being completely unqualified.  That tells me enough about his skill set.

I agree, maybe because it was obvious to the players that it was split because they tried for one, couldn't make it, and had to break it up - they didn't want their dirty laundry aired in public? More important to save face than to produce quality product is practically a Turbine by-line.

Yes, but skills can be taught, and it's much harder to impart "hard working" and "takes pride in what he builds". I don't want to sound like a manipulative shit, but when you have an employee who wants to have his work well received and is willing to work hard to get there, you have tremendous leverage over him. Work with him and you both win.

I've had many employees over the years who came to my group with poor skills but good drive. They don't always work out, but in the long run they've done much better for us than the skilled but complacent ones. I don't know Feather or Jerry, maybe both are lost causes, I'm just saying I wouldn't fault a new leader just because he didn't fire Jerry right out of the gate.
