Subbed for 6 month because I keep having a lot of fun with the game. It’s true that you can basically buy anything in EVE including the biggest ships and maxxed out toons. But we are talking about thousands of $ here and not much players pay that much. Most players don’t care how big their ship is and simply group up to shot at others.
I joined a mining “PUG” fleet, got bored with them, lured them to a PVE isle surrounded by PVP areas and went AFK. It’s relatively save to cross those PVP system when you check for kills in the last 3 hours before you warp through. But I told a group famous for ganking miners (CODE.) where the fleet was mining and everyone got killed on the way back home. My noobship couldn’t even pick up all the ore that was floating in space. While the gankers appreciated the hint were to set the trap they shot me for giggles regardless. This is EVE, I like it.
If you use a buddy invite link you get 21 instead of 14 days trail and up to 30 days extra when you sub. Don’t use the standard trial accounts, those screw you over two times compared to an buddy invite and you can’t get invited retroactive. Buddy link from my account:

- Player A is bad at finding friends and/or has bad judgement and has therefore to solo the game. Everything takes forever to accomplish if you are on your own, everything not totally boring (like high sec mining) is “group up or die”. If player A has some spare cash he can buy ingame currency, advanced characters and big ships totally legit and does so.
- Player B, C and D are halfway competed and set a trap for the kind of players like A is.
- Gang kills solo big ship and enjoys the salt. Tears are real when the money involved was real too. Even scamming, robbing or killing stuff just for giggles and because you can is encouraged.
