I've been meaning to try this game out for a while, and now that it's 66% off @ Bundle Stars I'm taking the plunge.

Has anyone here played it already? What are your thoughts?

I played FunCom's previous offering, Anarchy Online, before DDO, and some of the people I knew from that went of to TSW. Heard mainly good things about it, and FC aren't quite as much a bunch of fuckknuckles as Turbine are.

I'm Probably a little late here, but yes, I have played it. I enjoyed it very much.

The story/cutscenes are quite fantastic. Combat is a little meh. There isn't exactly a lack of endgame, but rather, it's just a standard gear grind with a handful of raids/dungeons and is very hardcore.

There isn't any levels or classes in the game, rather, anyone can use any weapon, and you build through the skill trees of those weapons with "AP". You don't really have to worry about making any wrong choices, you can obtain enough AP over time to unlock all the skills for all weapons, if you like.

Progression in that matter is in the form of "missions", which is just another name for "quests", really. However, a lot of these missions aren't your standard "kill 10 wolves" bullshit. Similar to running some old DDO quests for the very first time, there are plenty of missions that will make you use your noggin'.

There are different types of missions. The complex ones usually have a green "computer" icon, and are referred to as "research" missions. Some of them are just so over the top cryptic, that unless you're a real Sherlock Holmes, you'll be googling for the answer.

It's nice, because there are so many non-combat related elements in these missions, so you can be having fun and making progression like that. Unfortunately, the replay value does suffer a little bit, when you know everything, but that's a given for "quests" in any game.

All in all, I would say it's most definitely worth it for the first playthrough experience.

Hope you have fun if you get or got it.

Loving it, it's the first MMO my wife and I have both enjoyed since DDO.

Setting, style, graphics are looking good. Unique Monsters, no Elfs/Dwarfs/Orcs again and quests that are more than collect a hundred rat tails. So what did they fuck up? Numbers of copies sold are not impressive. Just underated?

It's just that the masses are retarded. More sells doesn't mean better quality. That is true for everything, games/music/cinema.. I am pretty sure bieber sells more than mozart.

I love the ton of references it has to horror stories - from classic lovecraftian ones to modern.
