NWO on D&D website

Why does the latest NWO expansion feature on the main page of the D&D website?
Is there a tie in between PWE and Hasbro?
NWO isn't even 5E so why are they pimping it?  Sponsored link?

And how did NWO get to a 9th expansion while DDO dies?
If it sucks so badly, they seem to be doing ok.

Best guess: NWO is so pay2win that the whales are keeping it profitable.

Thats how the original perfect World Online game worked. Spend 5 grand, get the best gear, highest level, etc. Add in PvP so you can rub your poor money-management skills in someone else's face, and you've got a lot of profit.

Haven't touched NWO with a 11-foot pole, but if its anything like PWO(by the same company) than extensive pay2wining is probably the case. In DDO no amount of money will get you an Epic Sword of Shadow or whatever other top-end raid item you're looking for that's BtC. Add a lack of PvP in DDO and the playerbase of DDO is less inclined to spend big since "winning" doesn't involve directly making another player loose.

The answer here is NOT to add PvP to DDO by the way. A whole lot of us play this game because of lack of PvP and a lot of what makes the game great is that same lack(or, rather, the ripple-effect that comes with not having to balance your classes around PvP).

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

Everything I've heard about PWE is they do quick cash grabs of games.  When one game dies release a new one and keep the whales dumping large amounts of cash to be the best at new thing.  In NWO's case they pumped PC for all it was worth, moved onto Xbox, and soon onto PS4.

Would the platform make any difference?
I could be wrong, but I'm assuming that you have an account, and it won't matter which platform you use?

I understand the quick cash grab model, but NWO has been around awhile (9 expansions) and I notice it features heavily in the DnD website.  Paid advertising or cross promotion?
Just curious why DDO is completely ignored by Hasbro.

I keep thinking there are new PC games, click on the link and end up at NWO as an expansion.

Not everyone plays on a PC/Xbox/PS. The more platforms you run on, the more suckers you can reel in.
