A while back on steam I picked up a game in alpha called planet explorer. Its pretty decent even in the rough state and is last I'd checked about to enter beta.

For the 20$ or so I dropped on it I've long ago gotten my money's worth based on time played.

So what's it like. Well in many ways I found it a enjoyable alternative to mmo. In the story mode you play the survivor of a crashed colony vessel and have to explore while finding others eventual set up a colony and discover a number of story plots I won't spoil but found interesting enough I've not minded playing through it three times now at various points of completion.

This game also uses a micro voxel system that allows players to craft weapons right out of their imagination as well as land sea and air vehicles.

Some examples I've found made by others include a shield with a well done Gorgon face several of kiritos swords fro. Sword art online captain harlocks pistol and a simple looking sword made so ingenious in detail that while fragile has better DPS then any vanilla sword in the game and any and all other more ornate or massive of swords.
The game has multi player options though I've yet to try them as I've read they arent to stable. However the long term goal is persistent and stable multi player worlds

If your fans of series like the dragon riders of pern or others in the genre about surviving and exploring unknown worlds and establishing a community while conquering the untamed exotic natives this game might be worth checking out.
