Man I shed a tear at that trailer. Wtf this game gets an amazing update every 3 months. It has an ethical economy. Its f2p. Its not abandoned every year. Best game on the internet.

Whole game is free, but you "need" bank tabs, especially the currency and map tabs, to play effectively, and you need premium bank tabs to get involved in trading.  A quick look around in the public areas and you'll see just how well the cosmetic stuff sells, though.

All the content updates overlap the core game during the "league" in which they are introduced, and most (but not all) get added to the core game in some form at the next update.

The sheer amount of this content can be overwhelming, but they're taking steps to streamline it into the main game so new players aren't hit with a dozen unfamiliar mechanics as soon as they step into endgame.

It is a great game.  So great that I tend to burn myself out on it.  Am currently taking a break.

And the smartest thing they did was ensure that the store items cannot be earned by playing the game. It is like a how to run a game instructional video.
Step 1 Protect revenue stream.
Step 2 Release awesome content regularly in a a way which offsets the established player vs new player gap and keep everyone hooked.
Step 3 Make the revenue stream all qol and player experience improvement items.

I guess it wasn't the "empty remove-only map tabs stick around forever in Standard" bug then.

As bugs go, not terribly bad, but far more annoying against the backdrop of quality product we're used to from them.

I came back to the league after the nexus patch and the league feels much better.
The nexus now feels rewarding and less tedious due to how the memory amplifiers have been buffed.
The reward nodes now feel like you're popping 3 or 4 fractured walls in delve---in terms of currency etc.

Betrayal still tanks my FPS though and the implementation of it makes it really hard to get the various rewards from last league.

The storyline never needed to be run overlevel in the first place, but now it's zerg, or else you'll get so overlevel that rewards will stop dropping.

When you're being forced to zerg through the "main" story, you've gotta ask why it's still "main".

That, plus I was already sick of the reset three leagues ago. But stuck coveting new items & mechanics too much to play standard....

Maybe if I wait out another league or two.

Yeah, that's how I feel about it, too.

It's basically what I'm doing anyway, just enforced.

Of course I pulled an Unnatural Instinct as like, my third unique item this league, but whatever I got in trade for it would probably just end up rotting in my standard stash, like everything else I've found or made over the years (and it has been years, I've been playing on and off since Piety was the last boss!)

Yeah, taking my time getting into it, though.

I'm not hardcore enough to compete in ladders, and I got screwed by a couple of bugs in last few leagues, so I'm waiting for them to get it right before really getting into it. 

I like what bits I've seen so far, though.  Really good test of clear speed.

Took a couple of swings on the beach, slow. as. fuck.  Maybe it gets better with stances and skills, but I didn't want to suffer through that to find out.

Last league I steamrolled what I played with Bane, gonna try Soulrend this time around, although I tend to build around what items I find rather than going in with a plan.

I have yet to try SSF, but from what I hear it almost feels like a different game in terms of management and loot being 100x more rewarding... may have to give it a go since I wanted to at least try the new league.

I'm courting carpal tunnel running Blight.  Was even in the top 2k on the SSF ladder for a brief time on Friday night.

I like the mechanic a lot so far.  Seems like it's going to become rather insane later on.

Running Necromancer, seems OP with the gem changes, but I'm probably just terrible.

Loving the new Masters mission mechanic.
