It's got a lot going on.

At the core it's just a DPS melee with a bunch of cleaves, some CC, and a boatload of buffs.

So you can hop into a pack of mobs and cleave/great cleave/en pointe (add consecrate/strike down/confront any foe for epics). Frozen Fury and Dire Charge for stuns. If you want to set up your enhancements to zerg rather than do high skulls you can add supreme cleave/supreme cleave instead of Frozen Fury.

why frozen fury
when you can get no save stun
from occult slayer

EDIT Additional comments: Nice crits, but no melee power. Squishy: light Armor, no evasion, no stance. I ran a raging swashbuckler, went up to 12 barb levels to pick up hp/heal amp from barb cores. Performed nicely also in FotW, with two sources of no-save helplessness.

Good idea, Ear smash is nice...but the cooldown is long. FF is only 6 sec cd. Probably worth it to take both for high skulls, but freeing up the AP is gonna cost a lot.

That is correct. We have a winner.

barD vs barB is the nonintuitive bit.

This leveling order has the following objectives:
(The order is pretty important, because the build is designed to kick ass in heroics)

1. Maximize skill points with Bard at level 1.
2. Early Barb level for fast movement, rage, etc lowbie goodness
3. Three Bard levels by level 4 for Swash stance in conjunction with Sky Pirate Dagger. 15-20x4 roflstomps.
4. Two Cleric levels to cast while raging with destruction domain (I still need to exhaustively test the limits of this. Is there going to be another llama round?)
5. Next is 5 total Barb levels by level 12 to get Crit rage online ASAP. (Swash+Imp Crit+Crit Rage+Ass Kiss=13-20x4)
6. Two more Bard levels to get Haste + Displacement.
7. Fill out Cleric levels for melee power, heals, buffs, etc.

iirc ravager crit rage does not stack with swashbuckling these days.
probably worth testing before you roll this dagger dude.

I just want to weigh in here. The Blood is the Life is dogshit. You'd be better off building the same build with Vulkoor. Until the devs listen to any feedback and make more of the deity feats toggles like Sylvanus (Which will never happen) it's a downright useless ability. Not to mention it doesn't actually work while you're undead. That's right, the Vampire deity's vampiric shit doesn't work with vampires. Quality turdbin- I mean SSG.

He's better off not building at all for now. The Vistani Knife Fighter tree should be out on Lamannia next week.

You mean the pretty much obviously ranged focused knife tree? Doubt there will be shit that makes melee daggers worthwhile in the tree by the way everyone's talking, including Sev and Cordo.

Well you get to hold your dagger with the blade down.  That's worth buying a new tree, right?

From what I've heard it should have melee stuff in it.  That whole 'dagger down' thing that so many people just seem to jizz over for some reason unknown to me is all about melee after all.

No, let me be Frank.

I'm guessing there will be more for melees than throwers. No reason to make a whole bunch of new animations with the blade pointing down if it was going to be a thrower-centered tree.

I suppose it could be evenly divided between melee and throwing, though. It is SSG so...

Not to mention that unless the throwing related stuff in that tree gives about 20-30% more DPS than can be gained with the same amount of APs on a shuriken build, it'll still just flavor.

For weapons wouldn't the following bet a better choice?

lv  4: Tiefling Assassin's Blade

Wouldn't the wounding/poison/13-20 crit range make up for the 3x crit profile?

lv 14: Razorend

It's a good choice but not a better choice. Multiplier is simply more valuable than range when you're already critting on a 15.

BTW, You can do the same thing with Sickle of Sypheros and Tharkuul's Bane, I also examined those.

Thank you for the response. After working out the numbers your choices are better especially when we start considering higher numbers from str mods and deadly.

I have played very few melee characters in my do life and never sense the release of warlocks. (Took a long break) I was wanting a break from running casters for the next rtr/etr and was thinking of using something like this build. At one point you said you would need to revise this before running it, did you happen to have any thoughts on it? I usually run low reaper 3-5, I am currently torn between something totally new (to me like this) and some more standard builds 18/2 monk fighter, 20 fighter. Race I am currently working on is drow.

I've been distracted by other stuff and haven't had time to test the limits of rage-casting and confirm if all of the critical stuff stacks correctly.

Depending on how the tests go, I might keep it mostly the same and try to squeeze a few AP into Vistani, OR swap in fighter for bard and go TWF with 11 in kensei and 23 in Vistani, OR if all else fails make it PDK THF Silvanus (14-20x4)

Information to help you.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Vistani_Knife_Fighter_enhancements

Vistani Knife tree:
Deadly Blades: Your daggers and throwing daggers do an additional +1(W) of damage. You are centered when fighting with daggers.

maybe monk lvl... would be interesting?  grandmaster of forms?

maybe twf rogue+ranger+monk (Focus DEX)?
or twf Ranger+monk+1fvs with (Focus STR)?

what do you have in mind? about max dps(or good dps) using a dagger.
