Posible Stupid Monk Question

Does a monk even need a speed item?  I'm on a first life 27th lvl monk and I see no noticeable run speed increase with boots of speed X on.  Doublestrike and melee speed also don't appear to be affected with the boots on.

Yes. A monk will want to be in fire stance, so it will need a speed item, or blinding speed. Now a speed item won't fit in optimal DPS gear, so blinding speed is probably best.
