That's the old DDO phone support number. They ended phone support a while back.

I always had great support on the phone.  Sample size of two, but they were both quick, helpful, and knew what the fuck they were doing.  It was surprising.

Actually.. phone support was pretty good for a while..

When I started playing a couple years back, I was in the store looking to buy a stack of heal pots with the points I got for signing up. The browser seemed to hang when I clicked the item (100 stack of critical heals), but I realized it was the web site, not my browser.

Being the noob, I clicked it again.. but it didn't respond.. waited a few minutes, got some coffee, came back.. still locked up... just absent mindedly rapid clicked it a few times, shrugged, closed the window, turned off my computer and went downstairs to watch a movie.

After dinner I logged in and found every inventory space filled with 100 stack pots. I called CS and the guy laughed for a while.. refunded my points and when i asked him did I need to log out for him to remove the pots he says "Why? What are WE gonna do with them... enjoy!"

Phone support always treated me well on the 4 or 5 times I used it.
Most notably the time we were trying to honor a guildy that had recently passed away by naming our guild ship in her honor. We had a "Stormglory Tempest" at the time and were guild level 72 I think. Anyway, The fault was mine. I was expecting to see the guildship name in the focus orb.(Which it only appears in the Social Panel Guild Roster) but after everything was said and done phone support had upgraded our ship to a "Stormglory Typhoon" free of charge even though our guild was not at level to be able to have that ship. (guild level 85 to qualify for a Typhoon class at the time.) and made sure that we got the name changed to honor our fallen friend.

I, too, had nothing but positive experiences with phone support and was very sad to see it go. Given I've had exactly the opposite experience with in-game support(including having a fucking GM troll me), I'd say loosing phone support was a crying shame.

Not to mention the ingame GMs are now TERRIBLY limited in what they can do for you. I did a TR and lost a couple of weapons that I had Crafted. I went to the help page, and spent the next 6 weeks playing 'tag' trying to get help, being missed some how and getting my ticket closed due to being 'non-responsive'.... when they finally replaced the 'blanks' (a flametouched waraxe with slot and an adamantine warhammer with slot), they were both broken. I could craft to them, but couldn't slot them... GM had to put the augments in himself.. and later I removed them to add a different gem and can't slot again. They gave me back the mats I used for both sessions of crafting, but I have 2 useless blanks now Sad

Still better than my experience; a GM with zero fucks to give decided not only to close my tickets with zero action, but to start actively fucking with me. It took me several weeks of filing tickets outside of the game to even get my case in front of a senior GM, at which point the response was "We will investigate this, but we can't tell you what we find or what action we take." The GM in question still has his job so now I do not DARE enter a ticket.

See, this is a good example of support going above and beyond. I don't think the reps try nearly as hard anymore, and it makes for a really frustrating experience.

It's outsourced.  They don't work for SSG.  It's going to be some second hand stuff like support.com

Here's what happens.

Some guy who works from home logs into a centralized website that tracks his tickets for the 100+ games he provides support for.  Every little shitty indie game, all those android/ios fly by nights, etc...that all have a support number to handle refunds and whatnot.

Your ticket is up next on his docket.  He checks the wiki for how to handle DDO tickets but he's already sighing because he did one yesterday and the back end for DDO is absolute shit.  Clash of Saga War Kings Clansville is a piece of shit mobile game but at least they have the same back end interface all shitty mobile games do.

DDO is a 12 year old monstrosity though that requires connecting to it via OpenVPN, then punching in the support password, then connecting to a remote VM and god this job fucking sucks.

Now that he's connected he runs the command the wiki tells him to to pull a list of items that were nuked during your last TR.  The script runs for about 5 minutes and comes up with 3 things.

This guy sees 9 year olds claiming they were hacked and lost 10 grand worth of stuff every day.  He gives zero fucks that you say you've been playing for 9 years and all your GS was really hard to blah blah blah.  The script says you get 3 items, you get 3 fucking items.

He logs into the laggy as fuck back end client that the devs can't even use to remotely reboot the servers let alone do any actual goddamn support work.  I mean if you think the client paying customers use is bad, imagine the shitty support back end.  Anyones, he restores your 3 items, marks the ticket as complete and moves on to deal with his next ticket for Shooter Kings of Gambling Titty Girls 9.

Pretty much sums it up. At least the phone support reps(back when they had support) actually seemed knowledgeable about the game. More so than the devs posting on the forums, at times.

This is the one thread I have ever seen that has almost universal praise regarding DDO.

Amusingly, it's discussing a service that no longer exists Grin
