Only if you enjoy the game for it's own sake despite the player base, developers and bugs.

I would say yes, even though I may be on the verge of another long break myself.  I came back a few years ago and while the game has changed substantially and now revolves around TRing almost exclusively, they added massive xp bonuses(R1) and lowered the total heroic XP requirements.  Ravenloft is excellent (I would say required) and the loot there drops with enough frequency that you can regear to close to top performance without a huge amount of pain.  Overall, I have had fun in the new paradigm, more soloing, but at least on Khyber if you are willing to put up an LFM you can usually get a group that I would say, over 50% of them are either competent at the game or at least entertaining.  I would add the caveat, LFMs for easy mode, BB or R1 w/BB, even going to R1 gets more dicey with PUGs depending on your tolerance for helping/carrying people... but even that is getting better.
You missed the season pass, but fear not, the marketing focus is clearly going in the direction of convincing players that nothing is something, so I expect another full price multi-year vip sub, bundled with a bunch of worthless crap.  But if you are into cosmetics in a game that didn't even look that great when it came out, there may be even more for you to like...

It is still the best D&D game despite the garbage turdbin.

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

And the depth of quests for someone to rerun after a long break is considerable.

To this day it's still the greatest game to suck the most ass.

Turbine policy - glitches and poor coding resulting in interference of your game play or enjoyment will be ignored.  Glitches or poor coding on the developers side that at all benefit your game play or enjoyment will result in your character being banned and/or items from your inventory deleted.  Please report all bugs via our bug report...when it works.

Just started up again, casual like, last week.  I was enjoying it until
I ran Slave Lords part 1 then I remembered why I quit.  500 kills
is totally reasonable for a L8 quest.

It's a great game to just play but the grind is like quicksand - you're
in and can't get out before you know it...

Well, don't let that overly influence your experience.  Slavers gear and crafting is well worth the effort, but just like Temple of Elemental Evil, there are stupidly difficult quests that should not be run on harder difficulties with the same expectation of ease as most of the others at the same level.  Just ask around for quest chains to avoid, like Mines of Tethymar or the new Rage quests, unless you want a challenge, or tons of mobs in a quest with a very poor xp for effort ratio.  If you want to do them at level, make sure you are in a competent group, otherwise just run them over level to get the loot and crafting mats efficiently.  Check out Ravenloft, it's actually a pretty good balance, some quests are quite difficult, the first fight in "invitation to dinner" and "Amber temple", others not so much.
