I would prefer to not use Wiz, if able. Started to try a build, when they uploaded the enhancements it was an arcane archer tank (?) build. So I wanna try an actual tank with Warlock and Pali. Help please?
THANKS!!

What exactly does warlock bring to the table? What are you looking to accomplish by splashing warlock with paladin?

The aura for one thing...

That makes a certain amount of sense. How many warlock levels do you recon? Seems Enlightened Scholar doesn't have a lot of level requirements outside of the core abilities. With Paladin you either need a lot of levels or just a few, so I guess the split really depends on where you'd want to top out on the warlock core abilities.

I was going to suggest only two levels of Pali were needed but I can see making it 3 levels but it'll cost the Enlightened Spirit level 18 core enhancement, though.

I feel like if you're going for Enlightened Spirit core 18 you might as well go full warlock. The advantages of just 2 levels of paladin just don't seem that valuable. 3 paladin gets you in to Sacred Defender which is worth some very good PRR for a small investment. 2 paladin is kind of whatever.

If you're giving up 18 warlock you can go a lot lower. 12 warlock still gives you some decent Enlightened Spirit cores; but on the flip side 8 levels of paladin isn't really giving you much more value than 3. If you were to go melee, maybe do 5 levels of Fighter?

Paladin 14 / Warlock 6
with T5 in enlightened spirit
for holy sword, displacement SLA, temporary HP aura and Shining Through could work nicely in easy content if you desperately desire to have a paladin warlock.

I like the 12/3/5 Lock/Pal/Fighter split. A couple augments and you're dashing around with full plate arcane failure free .. and that's a HUGE PRR jump, throw in a tower shield and HOLY SHITBAWLZ

You'd have Evard's Black Tentacles, don't need a whole lot else. Some good buffs... man, I thought I was done with warlocks but I may actually have to try this build!

The only 'actual tank' with those classes would be 15lock/4paladin/1wiz to get respectable defense numbers. Can go 14lock/5paladin/1wiz for Sacred Defender tier 5 but Shining Through is likely to always be better and the lvl 15 warlock pact abilities are quite useful.

Main problem with those types of builds though is the ES lvl 18 core and capstone is tough to lose, as well as the free MRR. Basically just go the pure ES route or make a real tank.

Agreed, I think if you're going to go more than 12 warlock you might as well go full warlock.

The 12/3/5 split wouldn't make a very good tank, but it'd be very survivable. Probably not a great endgame or reaper build either - but then the OP really only asked for "a warlock pali" build, so chances are they weren't looking for strictly the most effective tank in the game Wink

Yeah it's a tough choice really. Need at least lock 12 to get the aura ticks down to at most 3 seconds - but at that point the other options moving forward are probably better. People tend to shit all over the pure locks that go 40+ ES, 25 TS, rest whatever, but at the end of the day it's probably the best build for newer players to get their feet wet in low reaper and accrue loot. Kill times on mobs in lower legendary reaper isn't too bad and it's almost impossible to die even with shit gear. Boss fights on the other hand....prepare to have a couple birthdays by the time they're dead.

If we're talking about new players its probably best to focus on survivability - after all, you're not doing the group any favors if you're dead. Once you've accumulated some reaper XP/gear/skill, then start looking at the tank/DPS/healer roles.

Pure lock is definitely easiest to play, but man oh man are splashes fun.
