Big thumbs up from me. Rant incoming! In terms of bang for buck its a must buy. It's not the longest game though---but the story is good like Mass Effect 1 and KOTOR were.
The gunplay is entertaining (enough), but the excellent integration of the stat-RPG system takes the combat up a step.

The game is politically/philosophically down-trodden in a cheerfully drawn world---sometimes painfully so. The game is not anti-capitalism, so much as anti-corporatism. The corporation is essentially the government, so the politics reflect that. I think it has a universal message about control and centralized power.

Religious fantasy conflict is going on between determinist dogs and free-will monkeys. Both groups are descended from the same prophet, and there's endearing characters that slant both ways.

I think there were 3 "playthrough" paths.
1. Anarchist
2. Good guy, fix it from within the system
3. Union man / Corporate stooge

I've always wanted to be the "Anarchist" but my upbringing has conditioned me toward the side of law and order which would balance out my anarchic side. I'd probably be the "Good Guy Trying to Fix Things from the Inside."

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I think there's more than three, Three friends and I have had 4 different outcomes in Edgewater.
