War Priest + War Domain

Blood of Vol deity (favored with daggers) + War Domain (Holy Sword)

WP Core: +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range with your Favored Weapon

Divine Might

+13 dmg & hit with favored from War Priest + War Domain

Holy Sword: Holy Sword, any weapons in your hands gain +1 to their Enhancement bonus and +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range and Critical Damage Multiplier.

(Not sure if WP core AND Holy Sword stack in terms of threat range)

+DS/Melee power/special attacks


Vistani

One with Blades (One With Blades: You gain a +1 Competence bonus to Critical Threat Range and +1 to Critical Damage Multiplier with daggers and throwing daggers.)  [Maybe doesn't stack with HS??]

+9-11 dmg from ENH

+1[W]

+Special attacks, Double Strike, and Melee Power



Does the synergy add up to "decent"?


I actually kinda like the idea of throwing daggers + ameliorating strike + Heavy Armor being extra survivable. I just don't know if the damage is there at all.

Kinda cool on a boss: (10 min CD)

You are a devoted follower of The Blood of Vol, and your zeal has been rewarded. Activate this ability to draw upon the power within your own blood for 24 seconds plus 6 seconds per Religious Lore feat you have. In this state, you gain +4 Constitution, 100% Fortification, +10 to Fortitude Saves, and PRR and MRR equal to the number of Religious Lore feats you have. While in this state and have a Dagger in your main hand, you also gain Vampirism, stacking with other sources of Vampirism.

You need 14 levels of paladin to get holy sword. Assuming you're starting at 17, that only means 3 levels of cleric.

Is that really better than the improved buffs from a couple extra levels of paladin? Zeal is pretty great.

This would be a pure cleric.
You choose the War Domain at cleric level 2. It does the following:

Level 2: You gain +1 to hit and damage with melee and ranged weapons. This increases at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 20th.
Upon Turning: When you use Turn Undead your party gains a Divine bonus to Melee Power and Ranged Power equal to half your Cleric level for 20 seconds.

Level 5: You gain proficiency in all martial and exotic weapons.

Level 9: Your tactical DCs are increased by half your Cleric level.

Level 14: You gain Holy Sword as an SLA. 10 SP, 6 second cooldown.

competence crit bonuses do not stack.

You mention throwing but throwing daggers do not count as favored weapon for Vol, fyi.

I have been thinking about splashing 4 Cleric on my knife thrower tho because WP enhancements are very nice.

10% Double Shot
Enflame (Which is an AOE party buff and awesome)
AB Damage
Vulnerability Stacks on any weapon (Smite Foe)
Ameliorating Strike
Magical Backlash
Divine Might saves 8 AP in Harper and is better (+Attack)
Haven't tested but Silence the Wicked looks like it might be ok

Oh that's cool.

I think I'll try something like this for my next racial life. I actually really love cleric but haven't played it since they added the domains.

Vistani Core 12 and Holy Sword are both competence bonus and will not stack.

This will still be an effective build however as I believe Vistani to be a very strong melee enhancement tree.

If you're going Vistani I suggest Animal or Strength domain.

Animal gives you HP and the bear charge attack.

Strength gives you strength to reflex, strength, and immunity to knockdown.

I guess there are other domains as well. But war is useless on a vistani for the forementioned lack of stacking bonuses.

This could be a fun build for half-orc lives. No special reason, just think it would look funny.

In case anyone was wondering:

For some reason I decided to do a plain thf war priest. It’s not good. I mean, all the survivability is there, but the dmg feels about 50-60% thf pally. Kinda annoyed I did that. Oh well. Only about 300k xp to suffer through.

One thing it reminded me of: for heroic speed you really want aoe damage. It lacks good aoe. The war priest t5 is weak and has a long cd.

Will keep that in mind.

Fortunately not long to go! Its' fairly easy to suffer through 17-20 if you din't have to do 1-16.
