Feb 28th is the official anniversary date.

So according to the motherboards and someone who can actually stand the concept of watching a "livestream" there is some sort of decent anniversary gift this year in addition to the usual inventory tax.

You would get cards with DDO critters on them, then you could combine the different cards in a 'cruncher' for rare prizes. The cards were incredibly dupable (duped cards being identical to real seed cards) and the process so fast you could dupe them in the thousands in an hour. Also, it was one of those rare instances where so many people knew the dupe early enough that the rare cards designed as a limiter to the big-ticket items were available everywhere as the event was designed as a card collecting and sharing event. The big items like 50% pots, massive SP pots, and others that could be packed for years made it a glorious gift that keeps on giving.

I don't remember this one at all.  I remember the card cruncher and I remember them patching it, but I wasn't playing enough to even know wtf was going on.

How did this dupe even work?  I thought you only got one cruncher per account, and they eventually locked it to BTC?

That was the very first widespread doopapalooza that I can remember and it was hilarious. It was pretty common to see people face-rolling through quests with 100+ hours of sovereign pots running and tornado-ing everything.

I don't remember that much butt-hurt from the masses either because people were passing around the "rare" cards like candy. The downfall of course was when the Devs figured out that people were duping LGS shards and phlogiston (Mortal Fear was the SHIT at the time). The whole thing got nuked from orbit.
