Better off waiting for the property to fold and buying it in the estate sale.
This does not happen. In this modern era the servers would be physically wiped before being hauled away as ewaste. Some components may later appear on ebay but the notion of "buying the server" is retarded.

No need to pad SSGs budget by giving them easy C&D targets to sue.
At this point its doubtful SSG even has the resources to send out a fake C&D, let alone a real one. Even so there are ways around it; if the development were to happen outside the USA for example there's basically fuck-all they can do. Even inside there's easy ways to get around it. All you really have to do is prove you aren't using ANY of their actual source code and don't plan to monetize the program and legally speaking SSG can't do shit.
Here's some basics for you:
*The actual act of developing a server emulator is not illegal if you write all the code from scratch.
*What gets emulator dev programs shut down is one of two things: either they are working off of stolen source code, OR they are taking money to fund the development.
As soon as money changes hands for any reason then the company that owns the IP has the right to step up and take a crap all over it. Till then? Knock yourself out.
