	at this point I'm $180 down to scams for selling accounts. I was able to buy one before that had some decent stuff but nothing super great and like 8 reaper points, but that was a lot cheaper at $20, the guy that sold me that one was the same one that scammed me on the first $100 one. I figured GEM would be alright since they had a history of buying on here awhile back when they started and bought boxes and had been recently trying to sell the account for several posts now... turns out I'm just the first sucker. I need to stay away from this site, can't learn any useful tricks anymore for the game and people selling stuff are just going to rip you off anyway. Seems like a lot of good players are leaving because of the changes but I want to keep playing, just want a better character to do it with.

	Well we can't help you avoid scammers if we don't know who the scammers are. I've quoted the original post for posterity and will be keeping an eye on this subforum. I'd appreciate if you stick around. As for selling accounts, perhaps we ot to consider implementing some kind of escrow system? Let's say seller A wants to sell an account, and buyer B wants to buy it. To avoid scams, they both go to escrow agent C, who takes possession of the account and changes the password. Once seller A confirms receipt of payment from buyer B, escrow agent C hands over the account details and buyer B changes the password again.

	That would be perfect. Like the Epicnpc middleman system, they charge to much for the service though which drives the prices up way too high, and DDO doesn't have a lot of traffic on there in general. The way things currently are it seems like you can't learn any tricks here because everything is fight clubbed and you can't buy anything because it's a 100% trust game. Even the people that did sell legit in the past tend scam on their way out it seems. If someone is willing to sell with the trust going the other way I would be interested in buying a good account with a high amount of reaper points. Though I would need time to save up some money now, $80 wasn't a lot, but these days it kind of is.

	Out of curiosity, what system did you use for payment that you can't simply charge it back? If its paypall I'm pretty damn sure you'll win the dispute.

	It was paypal friends and family. I don't know how to go about doing a dispute on that. I'm trying to look around at the site to find something but not sure they can do anything since it was sent that way.

	Contact paypal's customer service. They will help. What you did does not violate PayPal's TOS and they have every reason to get you your money back.

	Rule #1 of purchasing illicit goods: no money up front. If it makes you feel any better, I had to learn this the hard way too. I've found it's a good rule to follow even for legitimate goods or services. And, yes, I had to learn that one the hard way as well.

	PayPal will almost never side with the sender in a friend’s and family transaction, the best thing you can do is contact the bank attached to the payPal account and dispute the charge as unauthorized with them, and maintain you were unaware of the transaction. This would be the best bet you have and you have up to three months from the date of the transaction with most major banks. However if you used cash or loaded your PayPal account then by all means open a dispute but it’s most likely not going to be settled in your favor. Not that I’m an expert or anything but I’ve been around the block.
